I'm 46 years old and have had major back surgery. I've since seen many doctors to deal with flare up's of pain, and have experienced the usual lack of concern from the doctors I've seen. They usually prescribe something and send me away leaving me wondering if they actually believed what I'm telling them. When I went to Dr. Matthews after moving to Carlsbad, it was a completly different experience. He listened to me, is one of the few Doctors that actually seem to understand pain, helped me with specialists that reduced the pain level and has played an active role in finding the best treatment for my situation. At my age I've seen many Doctors, but none like this. I highly recommend him and his staff.

I decided to search for another doctor after not seeing eye to eye with my old provider (or her unpleasant staff), I chose Dr. Matthews. Both he and his staff are great! The office isn't like an usual doctors office I was seated in a small room with a receptionist, she took my co-pay and had me complete necessary forms. The process felt more personal rather than signing in and waiting for about 30minutes to get seen. The nurse came and took me back to the room, asked about any problems I was having, she was so nice and easy to talk to. I only waited about 2minutes for Dr.Matthews, he asked questions about my family health history and mine. This is what I really like about seeing a DO in comparison to a MD. They look at the whole body and family health when working with a patient and it's not a rushed experience.
I live in PB, so it is a 20minute drive but worth it!
