The front office staff (who are behind a closed glass window with instructions not to open) and very young nurses were not friendly and unsympathetic to my child's needs. I had to pay $5.00 (cash only) for a NY state required school form to be filled out. In addition, they were not accomodating in giving me a copy for my school in a timely fashion. Though Dr. Mayer is a good allergist, I will be immediately changing to another allergist who has accomodating rules and polite staff members
I would never set foot in this office again! I was treated extremely poorly and shouted at by the head nurse after having waited for more than 40 minutes for an appointment booked three weeks earlier. The kicker was that I was only going to the window to let them know I was willing to come back another day as there were others in the waiting area (15 to be exact) that had been waiting 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES past their appointment time. This was not the first time an extended wait time with no apology or explanation had happened, either. I had been taking my two sons to him for more than 6 years for their allergies and asthma and each time I went I left with a sour feeling; mostly because Dr. Mayer himself was arrogant and lacked a caring attitude towards children. After this last experience, I have asked that my medical records be sent elsewhere and have been jumping through hoops with no response ever since. Dr. Mayer is not the only game in town! Do yourself a favor and don't be fooled by doctor referrals!!!!
