I believe Jan to be a bit of a scam artist - her fees are high
My teen was reluctant to talk to a counselor and agreed to the 4 sessions - Jan had said they would be 1/2 hour sessions since she was a teen and they were to get to know each other and get my daughter on board with how counselor could help
I have written record stating the two days of the week that worked consistently in outer schedule for virtual appointments
Jan had 4 one hour sessions at 135$ each and only allowed me ( the adult ) to set the first session
She set up the session on a day that did not work and she went on a vacation and had to skip a week of meeting as a result
We touched base after the 3 rd session and she informed me things were going well and she would meet with me to go over the action plans she wanted to implement for my daughter
After the 4th session she simply texted me and said because she was not able to meet with my child four consecutive weeks, she was not able to build rapport and could not help us
Boom $675 $ later we got nothing
If she was not building a good enough relationship with my daughter she could have said so and not wasted a fourth session
There was no recommendation for a different type of counseling on or place better equipped for kids - just well great got my money and bye bye
She works from her home and does virtual so I don’t know how she can justify her fees

Jan Hoss concerns me greatly. I was greatly upset she still practices. She broke confidentiality gossiping about another client to me. I went to another counsellor to recover from my time with her. The other family she was gossiping about called me concerned Hoss had talked about my sessions as well. I was devasted over this. Violation of confidentiality by a therapist is extremely troubling and illegal. Had I been an adult I would have reported her then.

I was a minor at the time of this and now in the medical profession as well.. I would not recommend this women. She was aware I was over medicated as a minor. She helped supervised the medication.
