I was referred to Dr Davidson Sr by the dentist in the practice for oral surgery. Before scheduling the appointment I specifically asked the office assistant if Dr. Davidson accepted my insurance. She said yes. After having the appt. for the initial consultation, I then proceeded to ask the office assistant what would be my out of pocket cost for the procedure and was informed the insurance company would have to let them know (which seemed strange since this was to be a routine procedure), and that I would find out in a couple of weeks. I waited and then called back and spoke with someone else and was told that Dr. Davidson does not accept my insurance. I then get a bill from my Dr. Davidson Sr.. for the initial consultation and x-rays which was over $300! By comparison when I had a consult with another oral surgeon (at a different practice) who does accept my insurance, they were not able to use the x-rays I paid for since they were too blurry. I must say the new oral surgeon's staff was able to tell me during the consultation how much the procedure cost, and how much I would have to pay and how much the insurance company would pay. This seems so routine. Dr. Davidson Sr's staff needs to be better trained in terms of administrative processes and especially in terms of insurance accepted. Unfortunately because of the erroneous information I received and now out of pocket cost of $300 for nothing, I would not recommend this practice.
