Well, I want to start out by saying that the therapist seemed nice. He did not talk much about anything while giving the massage so I appreciated that. He office is a bit dates and not really relaxing for me. I have receieved many massages in the past and have my likes and dislikes. I do expect a massage to be relaxing even when it is deep tissue. I found that he was so fast and "rough" that it was not relaxing at all. I had to really try to concentrate on relaxing since he was not gentle in moving from one section to another. Even though I had explained my problem area was with my neck and shoulders, he still did not gently work on those areas. He was rough and actually caused more stiffness than relaxing. He did give good attention to around my knees and my forearm which I really do like. I think that his techniques are dated as well. He appears to have been doing this for a while. I think that even though I received the massage at half off, the $35 was still not worth it. I guess I will go back to 12th Avenue Massage in East Hill since the ones there are more my type. I guess if you have never had a massage before you might like this therapist but, I really do not feel he is right for me and just had concersn. I have always felt very comfortable with my massage therapist and have no issues with de clothing but with him, there was some weird feeling for me. He did not do anything inappropriate but I did not feel comfortable with him.

I purchased two gift certificates through Deal Chicken. The deal states that the massage must be scheduled with Michael Haveard. I paid for a 1 hour, deep tissue massage. Deep tissue is not what I received, nor was this an extremely relaxing massage. Mr. Haveard talked throughout the massage telling me all about his wife and divorce, his former tire business and his time in the service. I appreciate open friendliness but not when I’ve paid for a massage. The massage itself was a bit awkward with him often times stopping the massage to talk. When I rolled over to my back he asked if there were any areas that needed work. I said “I carry tension in jaw”. I opened my mouth to show him how my TMJ was acting up and he lightly "popped me" on the cheek and said "stop that", as if he were my father. It didn't hurt and it wasn't in a mean fashion, but it I felt it was quite a bit over the line of professionalism.
Sadly, I must say I was disappointed in the service. I was originally going to give the 2nd gift certificate to my husband as a gift but I wouldn't feel good about it now. I’ve called for another appointment and expressed my feelings. I'll give him a second chance. If my next massage is better, I'll happily update this review. (Plus, I've already paid upfront for the certificates)
Update: I called for another appointment and asked for another therapist. I was told that the coupon was only for him. I do understand the restrictions. After telling my husband and friends about what happened here I will not be rescheduling an appointment. I will NOT see a massage therapist that boasts to be the best in town while clearly being unprofessional. Yes, this was the worst massage I ever paid for. Mr. Haveard, do NOT ever slap your clients again and please get a massage from an experienced therapist so you can see what it should be like.
