I had a very bad experience with a head of neurosurgery at a local hospital (Baltimore)...the guy had me in surgery for two hours, asleep, before deciding that he couldn't do my cervical fusion. I went to consult with Dr. Jamaris, because it seemed like a surgeon should know beforehand what they could do, for a second opinion. He said I should not go back and let the surgeon do what he was planning, because it wouldn't help. After a 60 minute discussion where Dr. Jamaris explained what would happen with the wrong approach, I asked if he would do it. He did my surgery, and I recovered quickly. He said mine was no more challenging than others he has done. He is so experienced and knows what he's doing.

My appointment with Dr. Jamaris was for a second opinion and I am so happy that he did the surgery. Dr. Jamaris is down-to-earth and easy to relate to. He explained the reasons I needed a Laminectory and showed me on my MRI pictures just where the nerves in my spine were being compromised. I have had pain for 6 years but nothing like the excruciating pain I was experiencing three months prior to seeing Dr. Jamaris. I am very pleased that Dr. Jamaris is affiliated with University of Maryland Medical Center so that was a plus to me. He is a fantastic surgeon and has a great bedside manner. I came out of surgery on top of the world, so to speak. I have not had to take a pain pill although they were prescribed and I have them if needed. Today marks one week and a day since my surgery and I feel I am coming along fine. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon nor will I if needed in the future. I have informed my family and friends about my experience and recommended Dr. Jamaris to all if they should need neurosurgery.
