Growing up in New York City offered numerous opportunities to experience several different athletic practices. As a child my rewards for academic achievement was athletics. I learned gymnastics and tennis as a primary education. Upon entering junior high school, martial arts and plyometric training entered my life. In high school, football ,weight training, 200m and 400m running events took center stage . When I began college at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst I studied Fencing and Goju ryu in college. Athleticism has always been a comforting part of my life. It is a world I believe has been closed off to far too many today. The loss of physicality in our society is why so many of us have grown unhealthy and disconnected from our bodies.
