Jason Luban is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California, and a Diplomate of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine with the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Academy of Chinese Culture & Health Sciences, one of the oldest and most established schools of Chinese medicine in the United States. Jason wrote his Master’s thesis on the use of Chinese medicine for women’s health issues, and has used Chinese medicine successfully for a wide range of disorders since his licensure in 1997, working extensively with chronic pain, as well as a variety of orthopedic conditions.

Jason has worked integratively with physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, psychotherapists, and practitioners of many other modalities, including stints at Western medical clinics and hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland. In addition to his regular training in Chinese medicine, Jason has taken hundreds of hours of advanced training and certifications in various orthopedic conditions, women’s health issues, addiction, HIV, Hepatitis C, diet and nutrition, herb-drug interactions, tui na massage, qi gong, and other subjects relevant to his practice. He also studies regularly with four mentors, each of whom provide a unique perspective on the practice of traditional Chinese medicine, and has spent the last seven years studying the Daoist (pre-Communist) aspects of Chinese medicine, as well as meditation, feng shui, astrology, diet, and cooking.

Beyond his private practice, Jason has worked at low-income clinics such as San Francisco’s Quan Yin Healing Arts Center and Glide Health Services at Glide Church. He also spent months working in Guatemala as part of the Guatemala Acupuncture and Medical Aid Project, about which he published an article in the trade journal Acupuncture Today, and took a sabbatical in 2005-6 to travel and work in Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
