Luis Mejia, M.A., P.T., TPI CGFI is a licensed Physical Therapist who has been practicing in a variety of settings for close to 15 years. He has practiced Physical Therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings with experience that consisted of post-surgery rehabilitation, trauma, orthopedics, and acute inpatient rehabilitation. Luis has worked extensively in a variety of orthopedic settings including elite athlete rehabilitation, manual therapy, occupational medicine, and chronic pain.
Prior to starting Mejia Physical Therapy and Wellness, Luis worked as the Rehabilitation Manager and the Spine Program Coordinator at Cleveland Clinic Florida where he developed many of the rehabilitation protocols that are currently used in spine care today. He has consulted in failed back team evaluations, participated in hospital grand rounds, performed community lectures, and instructed participants at several Symposiums. Luis has also been involved in many unique projects, including the design of clinical interventions used in research and the use of recreational sports in rehabilitation. He is well known in the region for his golf performance programs and is Titleist Certified.
Prior to his work at the Cleveland Clinic, Luis gained invaluable experience working for eight years in a Level 1 Trauma Center in New York. Luis graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Adelphi University. He continued his education at Touro College where he earned a B.S. in Health Science and an M.A. in Physical Therapy and received the Highest Clinical Achievement Award. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA),the APTA Florida Chapter, the Orthopaedic, Sports Physical Therapy, and Home Health Sections.
