I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where I graduated with honors as an all-star football player from Delaware, Ohio, Buckeye Valley High School in 1991. I attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana on a scholarship where I was a three-year letter winner in football and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree and honors in health and physical education. I attended graduate school at Indiana University in Indianapolis and earned a Master’s degree in Kinesiology in 1997. While in grad school, I taught undergrad physical education classes and played semi-pro football for the Kokomo Mustangs. I then served as the Strength Coach for Niles High School in Niles, Michigan until 2001 and then worked as the Wellness Coordinator for the Bangor High School Wellness Center in Bangor, Michigan until 2003. I was also a Personal Trainer for Gold’s Gym Harbor Country in New Buffalo, Michigan until 2005. I taught health & physical fitness education classes at Ring Lardner Middle School in Niles, Michigan until 2007. I also taught health & wellness classes at Niles Senior High School in Niles, Michigan until 2013. I was also the Certified Personal Fitness Trainer at the Long Beach Fitness Center in Michigan City, Indiana until 2009. I trained clients in the Strength Training & Conditioning area with Epic & Free Motion Weight Training machine equipment and Life Fitness & Precor Cardio equipment. I trained nearly a dozen clients on a weekly basis throughout the year. I was then the personal trainer at the Lakeland Athletic Club in Niles, Michigan until 2013 where I did membership orientations and all the training sessions. I trained clients in the Strength Training & Conditioning area with Cybex & Nautilus Weight Training machine equipment and Star Trac & Precor Cardio equipment.
