DR DAVID MITTLEMAN - BLUNDER?????
I have had diabetes for 31 years (Type 1). Thru the years many complications have happened to me including my eyesight, glaucoma, gastroparesis and the list goes on and on. Everyone on my fathers side has glaucoma and my grandmother and her sister both went 100% blind. When I first started seeing Dr. Mittleman he took me off glaucoma eye drops, of which were working well (12-14 pressure) Now after Dr Mittleman took me off the drops for 2-3 years my pressure has risen in both eyes to 25, with slight damage in the right eye. While Dr Mittleman was on his summer vacation (several weeks)Dr. Kay (very nice and knowledgeable)did an MRI to see if I had any damage from the diabetes and the lack of glaucoma drops, he found some problems. I'm waiting and waiting for these test results with no answer from the MRI place and Dr Mittleman's offfice. No one ever called. I was having panic attacts about what could possibly be wrong. Around the first part of Sept. I called Dr Mittlemans office and they put him on the phone only to cuss me out and to tell me to stop bothering them. Sorry if my eye problems,in which you quote in your letter to me "You have an eye condition which will worsen without proper care. Permanent damage may occur which could result visual loss or blindness." I'm so sorry if this small matter has bothered you at all, but what about your responsibility to keep your patients informed. Must have been some vacation you had. He proudly displays his vacation pics on his hallways for all to admire. ** Thats ok, there is a way to get your problems recognized if you are having a problem with a Doctor.
