My core belief is that we all have within us the desire and capacity to do our best in life, to reach for our full potential. Often we have certain stumbling blocks, or hurdles in our way and therapy can be a helpful way to face those hurdles, name them, bless them for whatever role they have played, let them go, and find healthier, more authentic ways of living. To embark on one’s journey of discovery and healing is a holy thing and needs to be regarded with respect and reverence. My job in the process of therapy is to use my training and skills in the service of bearing witness and acting as guide as your process unfolds. Your job is to regard your inner world with curiosity, openness, and a minimum of judgment. We are all shadow and light – we needn’t deny our shortcomings, it is often within them that our true gold resides. Along my own healing path I found a Jungian analyst and went through a long-term, life-changing analysis with him. I found in Jung’s psychological premises a way that helped me to make sense of the whole of the human condition, blending body, mind, and spirit. I draw from that understanding in my clinical work, but I see the therapeutic process as meeting each client where she or he is at and proceeding from there. Therefore, my work is client-centered and I may use cognitive behavioral techniques, interpersonal, psychodynamic, and/or feminist therapies, as needed. Reach me at Psychology Associates 122 E.
