One hellish marriage cured me. I was reared to love and respect women. Over many years with much disappointment and pain, I may have become a bit too self-protective. But my faith tells me we are not put here to suffer indefinitely. So even at my age, I wake up every day with enthusiasm and a wide smile. The ability to love is a gift, and I've never forgotten that. And as to suffering and disappointment, I think of them as rungs on a ladder ...just a part of our earthly journey to the new, eternal adventure. Along with laughter, tears are a gift from the Holy, Almighty, Everliving God.
