I am so sorry for you Michelle Hanson. We, too, had a terrible experience here. My daughter brought her pug, Maggie, to Dr. Larson for routine shots. She had a severe allergic reaction to her shots and threw up six times in his office. He told my daughter this was normal and take her home. Maggie died two hours later. She was only 1 1/2. I was not home when she stopped breathing. My daughter and my husband rushed her to the Buffalo Vet Clinic, but there was nothing they could do. They came and told me the news, and we called them (after closing) and they let us all come and say goodbye to her. They are amazing in Buffalo. They care so much. Maggie had her shots at 5:20 and she was dead by 7:15. This man really needs to go. They really make no effort to maintain a professional appearance here. I was shocked at how unprofessional they looked. I was treated terribly. I'm absolutely positive that I would have gotten better service anywhere else. This veterinarian is so unfriendly to both me and my pet! I was almost offended at how cold and distant they were The examining rooms at their office were not very clean. I was pretty grossed out that they weren't kept up better. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed.

I am not sure where the reviews came from here, but I would imagine someone has never had to put their animal to sleep and brought them to Dr. Larsen.
I told him I would write reviews and I am..
I rescued an amazing Dogue De Borduex Mastiff from St. Louis and was excited to get him home. I didn't do my homework because this boy had my heart- all 150 lbs of him. When I did get him home and found out he had bit and that was why he was needing rescue I contacted the breeder etc. to let them know I had Diesel.
He then bit my son's girlfriend on Father's day, I think she may have deserved it and so I let it go.
Diesel continued to mark my home and growl at my son and I.
After much time I came to the decision that he must be put down. I cried about this decision I fought with myself daily and loved him as though he was my child.
I remembered being told about Annandale and even called and spoke to a nice vet named Dr. Sneller. She was kind and assured me I was doing the right thing. Later would I regret not seeing her.
We walked in and the first thing I thought was am I in hell? The place looked and smelled so old and bad.
A vet was standing behind the counter and had no idea why I was there. Another client walked in and admired my dog so I was showed to the room where my life would end as I said goodbye to my sweet Diesel.
The vet followed me in quickly and I asked that we have 5 minutes and could he help the other clients, 5 minutes, that is all not 45 not til 7pm even though my appt. was at 545????? I was told by Dr. Larsen that this might make the dog more anxious and he didn't want to wait. He seemed agitated and left the room to come back. He seemed in a huge hurry as though we were wasting his time but I was so miserable and crying not wanting to do this at all. You see Diesy dogue was only 2 - he didn't deserve this at all. My heart was breaking, I was killing my own dog. Someone else ruined this dog and now it was up to me to be responsible and end his suffering. Do not judge me until you have been through this ever...
Dr. Larsen was an angry man, he would not take my cues to let the dog have a treat as I called him my food motivated whore one last time in my head, it was the only thing I could do to not fall completely apart.
As he injected the paw with his sleeping medicine Diesel got tired quickly. I asked before hand that they take note of his weight and not screw this up but as I asked for water (which they did not have) my boyfriend at the time ran to get me some, and at that moment my dog took 3 more breaths and I cried harder because it was supposed to be done after 2 viles. It took another 1/2 to fully put him to rest.
I layed over my dog sobbing and hurting.. I missed his big drooly face I missed the way he trusted me and now this is how our relationship would end. In this place called hell with this old man who wanted to go home.
I understand it must be a tough job but I am human. He is satan with a title.
I asked for a few minutes alone and that was when all hell broke loose . The doctor stood up and told me I was "violating him" that struck me as weird because I thought priests violate little boys. He said "I have had enough of this, we are closed technically and you are wasting my time" I about fell over and wanted to leap at this monster and shake him and ask what the hell was his issue. I got my time with Diesel. I asked for a scissors and the vet tech helped me get what I needed for samples of his hair.
You see I have been here before - I had a dog jump off my 3rd story deck April 10th of 2011 and I had to have my dog cremated at PALS in Phoenix AZ. They were so kind and let me spend as much time with my dog that I needed. I will never forget that day as long as I leave nor will I get over it.
I stepped out of the office to only keep this argument going with this awful man.
He told me "it was not my decision to kill my dog today" I was floored and at that point my boyfriend jumped in and gave him a piece of his mind. All I wanted was for this man to get the hell out of my life and soon. He kept the distance between us with a desk and he is lucky.
I told him I am media and I will write about this and it only took me this long because I am still reeling over the whole ordeal. I picked up my dog's remains yesterday. I dreaded going there but I had to get him.
Oh I almost forgot a key point:
While my dog was laying there dead I was asked to bring him to another cremation place as it was Wednesday and my dog would "take up too much space" in their freezer. I later found out he was left out all night, I spoke to Dr. Sneller about this whole nightmare, she told n me she put him in personally that morning. I guess the vet had no time to do that either. I would have had to pay extra for the other crematory to take the dog and was given the card and instructed I needed them to get him ASAP... because he must have been looking forwrd to the next animal coming in.
I was never apologized to by this doctor. I told Dr. Sneller what had happened and she really didn't seem upset or surprised by this.
DO NOT use this vet ever... Please .
My income prevented me from using my vet and I regret it to this day.
PALS in Phoenix heard my story and sent me a matching Urn like my sweet Otis's so they could be together and that is where they are.
Also when I went to get my dog I don't think I got all of him - The package was extremely small compared to my 80 lb dog. I used their "group cremation" crematory.
Also I asked if I could come up and make a paw print of his paw after the fact and they would not do that for me either, instead they made one that won't dry- it's a piece of wet mold and you can barely see his paw. All these things PALS offered but not this vet. They acted like I put them out when I was the client PAYING for their services. PALS sent me the mold kit too. I will never recommend this vet and will tell people this story when they ask me for a good vet and since I rescue, I am asked all the time.

They took the time to answer questions and listened to what I had to say. They treated us and our dogs as though we were a name and not a number; very personable. The office was easy to locate. The prices are affordable, as compared any other veteranery clinic researched. I will absolutely return. I had a positive experience, and we will continue to bring our pets to them!
