I would refer anyone with ADHD children, and EVERY ADULT w/ADHD, to this provider. Dr. Haverly himself is "one of us," and as an adult with ADHD he is very aware of the many challenges we face both in terms of stigma and stereotyping and with day-to-day activities, especially management of a home with young children and activities beyond simple school and homework. He is understanding, empathetic (and empathic, at times I think) and very knowledgeable. He explains the newly-accepted information on physiological markers for ADHD, brain function and perception, and the interactions of neurotransmitters and brain chemistry function and the often hand-in-hand issue of addiction with ADHDers. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it was to find Dr. Haverly and finally talk with a doctor who actually "gets it" and not only that, has been right there with me at one time or another. It's made a huge difference in my life; I am finally moving ahead and reclaiming a life I thought I had lost forever when I lost my medications. The ONLY downside is that he doesn't take insurance of any kind, but he more than makes up for this inconvenience both with flexibility of payments and understanding of the client on a personal level as well as VERY reasonable fee structure. I have managed to make it work with my fixed income of Social Security Disability payments, and nothing else. I CAN'T RECOMMEND HIM HIGHLY ENOUGH!
ays go out of their way to make me feel encouraged and cared for. I always feel completely comfortable and I look forward to my appointments.

I had never met anyone who really understood me until I started seeing Dr Haverly. I'm smart but I've never been a good student. I procrastinate. I misplace my keys. I interupt people when they're talking. I can spend hours on the internet but forget to pick up my wife. And I've had troulbe at work and in my relationships a lot. I'd been diagnosied with depression by two other psychiatrists and was put on antidepressants a few times. And a psychiatrist on First Hill decided I was Bipolar. (I'm not!) Then I read an article on ADHD in adults and it all fit. I searched for someone who had experience in treating ADHD in adults and liked what people posted about this guy. He didn't return my call right away but when he did call he spent 30 or 40 minutes talking with me. So it's been a good choice. He has helped me understand and accept myself a lot more and understand what's going on in my ADHD brain. He knows his medications, too and he's always passing out a new article on ADHD. He really encouraged me to have my wife come in and he explained my ADHD to her and she really got it! That has made a big difference. He coached her some and now she's a lot more positive and knows how to say things in a lot more supportive way. And I'm a lot more the husband I always wanted to be. Dr. H has really changed my life for the better and I highly recommend him.
