I started seeing Dr. Hart about a year and a half ago. He was the first one to correctly diagnose me with Bipolar Type II vs. the depression I'd been diagnosed with for the past 10ish years. I appreciated that he was usually on time (5 minutes late at the most).
However, things changed and I will not be seeing him again. I'm 8 months pregnant, he has been seeing me throughout the pregnancy. Frequently after I first found out and less frequently as we saw I was doing ok. Throughout this time I said that I wanted to breastfeed. He referred me to an internet resource via la leche league. No specifics about where to look, just that they were a good resource and there was a group in Seattle. (I looked and couldn't find anything.)
Fast forward to a week ago, I had contacted a lactation consultant who looked up information and found that one of the medicines I was on wouldn't be suggested for breastfeeding. I bring this information to Dr. Hart and he said that the manufacturer doesn't recommend breastfeeding on this medicine. It's too late to change now that I have a month left and head into post-partum. I'm wanting to know how long he knew this information that the manufacturer doesn't recommend this? This was a conversation that we had explicitly had and (off-the-top-of-his-head) he brings up this information.
Needless to say, I won't be going back and have a hard time recommending him.

The receptionist was very unfriendly. She was not helpful and acted as though she was too busy to answer my questions. Based on her, I won't be scheduling an appt at this office

After years of counseling elsewhere with little effect, Dr. Hart immediately diagnosed teen daughter with ADD and then reviewed the treatment options with us.

After listening to Him question and diagnose my ADD teen daughter, I immediately realized that I've been ADD all my life (I'm now retired). Upon seeing him for myself and discussing it with him, he confirmed what I thought. We initiated treatment plans for both our daughter and me which he is carefully supervising and I've seen a great change in daughter, myself, and our family life.

Dr. Hart can seem a bit business like, distant, and aloof at first but as you see him a few more times a warmer personality with a good sense of humor becomes apparent. He explains the meds, how they're absorbed, how they function in as much detail as you may desire, based on questions you ask. I fully recommend Dr. Hart to anyone seeking help.

He is the most punctual medical provider I've ever visited. His office is easy to find and is quiet and clean. I've found his receptionist to be a jewel on each of our visits.

I was very unhappy with Dr. Hart. I explained to his intake person what my needs were before being accepted as a patient, then was told at the appointment that the reason I came in to see him (interested in changing medications to ones safer to have a baby on) was not on the lists of things he'll deal with because "pregnant bipolar patients are a hot mess" , that I needed to check myself into Harborview's psychiatric ward if I wanted to even consider it, and it was a bad idea anyway since bipolar disorder is genetic. I've been stable and very high-funtioning on my meds and familiar with potential issues for 7 years now, so to be dismissed like that was really unprofessional. He paid no attention to my medical background but asked just enough perfunctory questions to fill up and charge me for the hour before dropping the bombshell that the WHOLE reason I came in to see him was something he's not willing to deal with. Waste of time and money.
