I had her inject my lips and thoroughly regretted it afterward. Not only did she not listen to my preferences (I like thick sides on my upper lip and to stay away from the vermillion border), the juvederm got outside the parameters of my lip on both the upper & lower lip & I had more in my lower lip than my upper, causing a clownlike appearance on my lower lip and a troutlike upper lip. When I went back for the follow-up, the purpose for the visit was introduced to her and her assistant by me clearly stating that I needed VITRASE because I wanted a smaller bottom lip (there were 2 bulbes of juvederm outside my lower lip) and to get rid of the juvederm that appeared to be above my upper lip. Vitrase is not preferable, but it's also not an altogether unusual request; as even with experienced injectors juvederm can get away from the intended area. She did not express empathy on any level and was more interested in defending her position that 'it looks good, I like it' rather than listening to what I was expressing. Her answer was 'don't look at it' as in, 'so what if you don't like how you look, your feelings don't matter.' A lip plumping is not a project that a Dr. can believe to be successful without listening to the patient. Because it is subjective & we don't all have the same opinion of what nice lips look like, doing it 'right' simply means that the patient is satisfied & that you listened & gave them what they paid you for. Even my husband (who never says anything about this stuff said it made my face look worse, not better). She was so defensive that she declined (aka refused) to vitrase, and sounded as if uncomfortable using it, (which I took as a sign of inexperience with mixing/ injecting it) so I just gave up asking because I didn't want to take any chances. Her solution (to what she likely deems my 'neurosis' rather than my 'valid concern') was to put MORE collagen in my lower lip because she said she just needed to 'blend' between the two large lumps outside either side of my lower lip. I made VERY clear that I did NOT want more volume in my lower lip, I wanted less. No explanation of what this substance was she was putting in my face or how long it would last, I was lulled into trusting a Dr. who kept saying 'trust me' and 'the swelling will go down' (even though with juvederm what you see is pretty much what you get- not alot of swelling). I wanted to trust her as a friend had referred me & I WAS hopeful it would go down. But unfortunately for me, it didn't. I had to pay ALOT more money to a more experienced Dr. in order to fix the work that Dr. Pak did, but he couldn't get rid of the 2 large collagen blobs she put OUTSIDE my lower lip. When I called back to ascertain information on the collegen she injected, she again told me 'don't look at it' and said she injected the collagen to "appease" me!!!!!!!?????? Which of course was infuriating, because she still appeared not to be aware that I DID NOT WANT MORE VOLUME IN MY LOWER LIP- I WANTED VITRASE=LESS VOLUME, and that I DID NOT WANT ANY SUBSTANCE OUTSIDE THE PARAMETERS OF MY LIP!!! So someone else fixed the problem she created and charged me $$ for and refused to fix the way I asked her to.
