I have been going to this office for many years for routine dental work. I recently had an emergency on a Saturday and they were quick to have me come in. At that time I was told that they could only diagnose the problem which was that I needed a root canal and someone would call me on Monday or Tuesday to come in for treatment. The gave me scripts for Vicodin and an antibiotic and sent me home. I did not receive a call from them as promised, however I called them because I continued to have pain that was not relieved by the pain medication they prescribed. They told me to come in on Tuesday. I went in on Tuesday and they fitted me for a crown , charged me $241 in addition to what they billed my insurance company and said that I would need to set up another appt for the actual root canal to address the problem. I wrongly assumed that this would be in a timely manner given the amount of pain I was experiencing. I was shocked when I left the treatment area and was told by the front desk that the first appt they could give me was a full month later. I could not understand how they could start but not finish the treatment and I was met with blank stares from the front desk staff and then told that I would be put on a "call list" if an opening occured. I went home and once the Novacaine wore off the pain was more intense than I had originally been experiencing. I contacted the office again and asked how they could basically perform the root canal procedure backwards by fitting me for a crown and not doing the root canal and was told that they put medication in the tooth when they drilled it and it should have helped. I told them that in addition to the increased pain, my face and neck were swollen. Again I was told they would call if there was an opening. There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to tolerate this pain for one more day and I was also fearful of the infection that was obviously not responding to the prescribed antibiotics. I contacted an oral surgeon who saw me immediately and stated that the infection was now to involved for a root canal and they tooth would need to be extracted. He extracted the tooth, prescribed a stronger antibiotic and pain reliever. A dental drain need to be inserted in my gum to drain the infection. Academy Dental provided substandard care. They are an assembly line practice that is interested in making money and keeping it in their practice. They should have referred me to another provider if they could not complete the treatment to ensure the best outcome. They did manage to cash my check 1 day after I wrote it. I will never return to this office.

My family has used this dentist for over 10 years. They are rude, rush you, and make you wait forever both for an appt as well as in the waiting room. My father had many probs with them (double billed many times, poor dental work) and recently I had a HUGE problem. My first ever cavity was drilled/filled there 6 months ago. They rushed through it in a quick and dirty way. Now, it FELL OUT. I went to another dentist and guess what? They missed 1/2 the decay in the tooth so it had to be redrilled SIGNIFICANTLY. Also, they missed a cavity present on the tooth in front of this one. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but they seem to be a habit with this slick, cold, modern, impersonal and RUSHED place. They are about seeing as many people as quickly as they can...NOT about helping you or your teeth! AVOID THEM!
