**Update** After filing a BBB complaint and posting this review, upon returning to the dentist to finish my husbands work, the dentist took us both aside and spoke to us personally about my issues. I feel much better than I did before about them as a business. I probably will go ahead and get my work done through them as overall they did good work on my hubby's mouth. I am now sure that they had good intentions its just that things came across badly initially. Also I am now sure that their are no kickbacks involved.Just be careful if you have insurance.

My husband made an appointment with BR dental care to have some dental work done. Before our appointment we confirmed with the Dentist office that they take our insurance. We also contacted our insurance to make sure we were aware of how our plan works. We have a Dental PPO which provides us $600 In a health fund each year before the PPO percentage kicks in, also the amount rolls over if we don't use it. Please note that this is not an HSA, it is an insurance health fund. We haven't used our dental fund in years so we have $1800 sitting there available for use. Basically all the Dental office has to do is put through their billing and they will be payed 100% of the work done up to that $1800 amount, before any payment is due from us.

My husband goes in and after they take xrays and all, the billing person comes in and tells him that because they have already done some dental work he will either have to pay for the services they have rendered out of his pocket or he will need to apply for a loan through them. The total of his dental work will be $844.00 charged to this loan, and we will have to file for reimbursement with our insurance company. My husband went ahead with the loan without consulting with me because he felt trapped by their urging of him to go this route.

When we got home, I called the insurance company to ask them about this, and they told me that they have never heard of a dentist handling billing in this manner when insurance was available, that all the dentist needs to do is send in their claim and it will be payed, and that any dentist we choose is able to be payed at 100% of the cost of work done.

I called the dentist office back and every time i tried to speak to billing she was "with a patient" (forcing them to agree to a loan no doubt.) Once I finally got in touch with her, she preceded to tell me that the reason they cannot bill the insurance is because "they cannot keep track of how much money we have available in our health fund". First of all, The insurance company would keep track of that,Second of all, there is computer software available that could keep track of that for the office, Finally they lied to us about accepting our insurance because they are basically treating us as if our insurance does not exist. This lady preceded to argue with me that it didn't matter that they only way that was through the loan.

I canceled an appointment that I had scheduled for me and We will not be giving them any more of our money. I would strongly urge anyone to stay away from here. All I wanted from them is to refund the money that they charged to the line of credit/loan and to bill the insurance company for the amount due. But they refuse to listen to me. I honestly believe that they are getting some sort of kickbacks from the loan company to be basically forcing people into the loan. They need to be upfront about their billing practices, before they render services. If we would have known what we know now, then we would have chosen a different dentist.
