This office is all about getting heads through the door. Not at all about the customer quality and being of service for the consumer. The facility is actually not very clean, or kept up to my personal standards of cleanliness....most of the magazines were 1 to 2 years old. Re-use eye glasses with out cleaning or even wiping them off. One of the Dr.'s was arrogant and rude. I've never complained about a business before but I just couldn't let this one go. I had an absolute horrible experience at Shawnee Dental.

The dentist actually took time to listen to me and what I wanted to have done and treated us in really nice manner. The front desk is so helpful with insurance and how to make it through the insurance world. During the procedure they listened when I hurt and took care of it right away. We have found a dentist we will stick with.

The following complaint was filed with the KS Dental Board. Even while the complaint is pending, this dentist has VERY aggressive collection people call me every day. I have really been wronged here:

Last December (2007), I presented to my dentist with excruciating pain in an upper right molar. He advised me that the tooth needed a root canal and set me an appointment with an oral surgeon in Leawood, KS. Although this dentist was very patient, his technique required him to use a large latex dam in my mouth. After my two difficult pregnancies, I have developed an exaggerated gag reflex which absolutely precluded this device. I was never charged by this dentist because he was unable to help me. Neither he nor my own dentist had any recommendations regarding who might be able to do this procedure without the latex dam or, as an alternative, using a light sedative. I was left on my own in terrible, literally frantic pain. I began making telephone calls to dentists' offices asking if they did root canals without the dam or if they had in-office sedation available. When I called Shawnee Dental, the receptionist told me that they did, indeed do both those things and made an appointment for me to come in in several days. (Several days still in terrible pain) During my appointment, Dr. Boe examined my tooth and had his technician take an X-ray. I was amenable to this because I thought this was in preparation for a root canal. After going over the X-ray with me, the dentist told me that they did not, in fact, do root canals at all. I was dumbfounded. They had not only run up charges doing diagnostic work I did not need, they had, more importantly to me, delayed my finding relief from my pain.
I paid them $20.00 as the time of the appointment but as I drove away and thought about it later, I began to be very angry at being taken advantage of. They had no intention of helping me. They did diagnostic X-rays for no reason. They sent me away in terrible, frantic pain.
I eventually found a dentist to help me in Des Moines, Iowa. I had not intended to file a claim against Shawnee Dental or Dr. Boe but they have continued to send me ever-escalating bills.
On January 2nd, 2009, I received a very threatening letter from C and D Collections. I have explained everything to a Sonya Cummings but she or someone named Kyle Slaughter call my business EVERY DAY and ask if I will pay this bill. The phone number of this collection agency is 913.471.4905.
I am taking time to let everyone know about what this dentist and collection agency are doing to me. DON'T go to this dentist.
