In my opinion, Doctor Bruce Berenson (Delray Beach, FL) over-prescribes, over-tests, and requires unnecessary visits and tests all in an attempt to bill more and take advantage of his patients. What follows are actually events that unfolded which led to him no longer being my doctor.
I canceled my yearly visit because of the Covid-19 pandemic and he insisted, even though I was perfectly healthy, that I come into the office for an appointment for the sole purpose of renewing my prescriptions (all of which I’ve had prescribed for years). I called 4 times to get a particular script written which I rely upon. He wouldn’t mail it to me and I still had to go into the office to physically pick it up, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid given the pandemic and the guidance we were given.
He finally wrote the prescriptions and got them wrong. I complained it was wrong and they denied they were wrong, twice. They also lied and said that he didn’t write it them for me last year. The bottom line is that he lied and was wrong. I can prove it because he actually helped me get it from Canada last year.
He finally got it correct but still made me physically pick it up instead of him calling it in to the pharmacy.
I am healthy for my age and I see other specialists twice a year. Doctor Berenson insisted I see him twice a year as my primary physician, even though that would only result in redundant tests to which he has the opportunity to utilize the tests given by the specialists. In my opinion, the only reason to insist on this is to pad his pockets by billing more.
To cap it all off, he has over-billed and over-prescribed my wife several times. She has had to follow up with them multiple times to be refunded because they did not report to insurance that she had paid the co-pay.
It’s likely that his other patients are probably getting the same over-treatment and over-billing. The sad part is that most are elderly and may not be able to figure it out themselves. They may have no idea!
This has truly been a terrible experience and it’s sad that he is still seeing patients. I urge you to go to a different doctor and save yourself the time and trouble.

I found the doctor entered inaccurate medical information in my records and had to review what was in the computer on my history and had to correct a number of items that were wrong. A nurse called me with inaccurate blood test results where they said "everything was OK" but they did not know they had received INCOMPLETE and/or incorrect results from the lab. The doctor did not review to see if the results were correct. I complained their office and the doctor was negligent and not paying attention to details. After my complaints, doctor sent me a letter to find another PCP.

Does this provider ever overbook appointments here?
Never! They have lots of business, but they do such a great job of never overbooking.
Did you feel like this provider's office was understaffed?
Not at all, they had plenty of staff members to help me whenever I needed assistance
Does this provider remember you and your circumstances at every appointment?
Definitely! They always remember me and make me feel important!
Does this provider always put the customer first?
Absolutely! They have some of the best customer service I have ever seen
