He was not very compassionate and certainly not attentive to needs. Very stuck in his ways and old fashioned and not open to anything different that what he learned in medical school which was probably many many years ago.

I nearly died as a result of his negligence and not following through with informing me of my levels of Warfarin.(INR) I had taken a blood test on Wednesday (last Wed in April) and no one called to inform me as to my results. I was very sick with an abscess and had to have it removed. Had extreme fever and ended up in the emergency room at Mission Hospital and was in cardiac intensive care just short of a week. Went into the hospital on May 2, 2014. My levels were 14 and I am told I was suppose to be 2.5. The hospital staff attempted to recheck the test and could not get a read because my blood was too thin. Was told by more than one doctor that I would have died if I had not gone into the hospital.
I also had an issue with a medication that I believed was causing me an extreme loss in vision. I went to my Opthamologist and was told to consult my doctor and probably get off of the medication or I could suffer PERMANENT BLINDNESS. Dr. Meltzer did not listen to my concerns. He disparaged my primary care doctors as they had me on hormone therapy and on Armour thyroid, he had me get off of both. I eventually went off of the Amioderone and my vision is better and now that I have changed cardiologist, to someone open to new therapy and the latest in medical research, I am doing so much better. I am able to work, go to the gym, walk my dogs, and do things that I did previously. Not bad for someone nearly 65 years of age,

Had I stayed with Dr. Meltzer, I probably would not have been able to write this because I would have been dead. Even my neurologist said that I could have and would have bled internally and that would have also caused me to die. My surgeon said more than once that I was lucky to have come into the hospital and was very close to dying,

He is against bio identical hormone therapy, he is against alternative therapies and has not kept up with new developments in the field of medicine. He told me that my thyroid medication was bad for my heart but actually now my cholesterol is really at a good number, I have energy and I am not apparently going blind. I have hope for the future and I still have life, a good thing. One has to take responsibility for their own health and follow their intuition.

I was and am not the type of person who readily goes to the emergency room. First emergency room admission in my entire life, glad that I went. btw my heart issue was NOT due to my lifestyle such as bad eating, smoking or a lack of exercise. It was congenital and I now look and feel like a 50 year old, or younger, not 65.

I have only good things to say about Dr Meltzer. He took extra time with me when I was fearful and confused. He really put me at ease and explained things.

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to send me a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable. I didn't experience any unnecessary pain during my visit, and I was amazed at how much better I felt after I left. Not only did I find a parking spot right away, but I knew my car was safe because the spots were designated and close to the entrance. It was very easy to get an appointment. They have a very flexible schedule and get me in quickly every time.

Absolutely! They aren't arrogant at all and are more than willing to pursue advice when necessary
