My internist recomended I go to this group becuase he was uncomfortable writing out pain prescriptions.
Dr. K came in like a whirlwind and touted his pain management program without really listening to me. He pressed on an area of my back that was sensitive and recomended the 3-series of lumbar epidurals. Even though I wasn't in pain at the time (other than the area he pressed on) I had referred symptons so I agreed to it. Ist one relieved some of the referred symptons and then went away so I scheduled the 2nd. OMG I feel like it is now 100 times worse. I just called and asked for Dr. K. to call me back. I fear that he will rush me and I hope that he does not.

Dr. K has been treating me for a year and a half now. He and his staff are absolutely fabulous. He is caring, thoughtful and concerned. At times he might seem a little hyper, but that is just who he is. His chief concern is helping alleviate your pain and has done is very successfully for me. You need to get used to his bed side manner but I think he is truly caring and cares very much about his patients.

I have had 3-4 experiences as a patient with Dr. K. I really think that he is a great guy - if you can get him to stand still for more then 2 minutes. He is definately NOT the kind of doctor that wants a patient to talk to him where he needs to reply. He rushes you out so fast - you wonder if you are in an out of body experinece and if you even saw him at all. I remember once that I was concerned about my blood pressure and he wouldn't even take it. He said he didn't do things like that. He could have had a nurse check it - but he was out of the exam room while I chased and followed him down the hall. Bottom line: Dr. K. is a great doctor for the proceedure of relieving pain. He is very good at what he does. He is very attentive in the injection room and very kind to you when the procedure is over. But when it comes to visiting him as a patient who would like to share how they feel at an office visit, Dr. K really needs a class in "bed side manner". The people in his office and the proceedure staff at the hospital are fantastic. Kind, sweet and very caring. I think Dr. K cares too - but I hope he starts to remember who pays his morgage and feeds his family. Without his patients - he might have a problem or too.

I preface the following remarks by clarifying that I have been thrilled with the service I have received to date from North American Partners In Pain Management located at NorthShore LIJ's Syosset Hospital where my primary pain management doctor is Raju Mantena, DO and that over the past 4-5 years when doctor Mantena was unavailable I was perfectly satisfied with the service I received from Drs. Stamatos and Rousseau.

I was advised earlier this week that Doctor Mantena was out ill for an extended period but that I could be seen by another partner in the practice, Dr Peter A Kechejian. Upon my arrival at the appointed time, 1:30, the office staff shared that I should have been told to come in at 8:45 am, their office staff had made an error but Dr. Kechejian would still be able to see me.

After waiting for 25 minutes in an examination room, during which Dr. Kechejian abruptly entered to retrieve medication for another patient he was seeing - without making eye contact or speaking a word to me.

When he was finally ready for me he refused to come into the examination room, where I typically have at least a few minute conversation with Dr Mantena or any of his covering physicians noted above, about the effectiveness of the last treatment, whether or not I was in need of any "trigger point' injections for back muscles in spasm and ultimately leave with new monthly prescriptions for pain and muscle relaxing medications

Dr. Kechejian refused to speak with me in the examination room, rather he flashed a prescription over his head and stated "that's all you're here for" and left the room leaving me to chase him into the hallway to publicly rather than privately speak for 15 seconds during which he belittled and refused to perform a trigger point injection to relieve pain from a muscle in spasm - belittling this treatment as a bogus, useless procedure, despite being a treatment he specifically cites as part of his published and advertised holistic treatment plan for pain management. He also reduced my monthly pain medication by 20% without any conversation or explanation. I have no history with Dr. Kachejian but expected to be treated with the same respect, consideration for privacy and collaborative discussion and decision making with regards to treatment plan.

Not only were my medical needs not considered or met but my rights to patient privacy were violated ... I can't believe that Dr. Kachejian mistreats all his patients like this. Overall, Dr. Mantena, his practice and all partners I'd rate as excellent but based on my recent experience with Dr. Kechejian I would rate him as the absolute worst physician, of any discipline, that I've had the displeasure of being (mis) treated by in my life.
