Several years ago I was referred to Dr. Gerstenfeld because I was concerned about what looked lke a precancerous spot, and to have him scan my back for anything that looked abnormal. I waited aproximentally 20 minutes to see him. Which was fine. However, I found him to be very unprofessional, not to mention I was referred to him by my primary who also thought I should be looked at.

Gerstenfeld said there was nothing unusual on my back after looking at it for maybe one minute.. Even though I was referred to him by my primary who also thought I should be looked at. I was a new patient, so I thought he was just overwhelmed, having a hectic day. So I left with the impresion that I was okay. A year later my Primary looked at the same area, but did not refer me to Gerstenfeld. Apparently Dr. Gerstenfeld was not taking on new patients. I wasn't a new patient! I saw him once before! Still, my Primary referred me to another dermatologist. After reading some of these reviews I think I know why. My primary must have known that Gerstenfeld was getting complaints. Thanks to my primary I found another Dermatologist who was very good, and removed a basil cell. Talk about Dr. Gregory House, being forced to do clinic hours. Only this was real life not a TV show. Gerstenfeld was ruder and not funny.

Don't go here. I went for eczema and he took a sample. This was three months ago, and there is now a very dark scar where he took the sample. I have had neosporin on the spot ever since. I went for relief and he made it worse. Also, prescribed me a topical that is known to cause cancer, never explaining that before I spent $50 on it. Save your skin and money

To all you people out there with skin issues:

DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR! I recently went in because I had been havings some skin problems and needed a suspicious mole looked at. Dr. Gerstenfeld was "odd" from the moment he walked into the room. He spent less than three minutes with me (while I waited roughly 30 minutes both in reception and in the patient room). He inquired as to why I was there (does he not read a chart before entering the patient's room?) It should have been obvious why I was there. After some brief discussion, he told me he would be right back. A few minutes later, his nurse returned - not the doctor. She handed me a bunch of samples and a prescription (which isn't even covered on my policy) and basically ended my appointment. I informed the nurse that Dr. G never looked at the "suspicious mole on my arm" and her response was "oh well. Sorry." I sure hope I don't have skin cancer! I work in the legal field - and have previously worked in the medical malpratice area. Dr. Gerstenfeld in my opinion was probably the worst, non-informative, non-compassionate doctor and I would definitely NOT recommend him to anyone! (I have a friend who still works at that med mal firm who actually saw him for another skin issue. We compared notes and are frankly amazed that this guy even has a license!)

BIG WASTE OF TIME! I now need to see another dermatologist so I can get my mole looked at. Hopefully, by a progfessional this time around! My time is valuable too Dr. Gerstenfeld!
