We were referred to this practice by our child's school headmistress and our pediatrican. Our pediatrician told us "they are the best in town" and our son's headmistress told us they are the only practice in the area she recomends. We were comforted by receiving the same practice name and recommendation from both trusted sources, and we needed that extra encouragment to get help because our son was in pretty bad shape, and we didn't know who to trust or who to turn to after a few bad therapy experiences. We truly did not believe anymore therapy or anything really would be able to help us. The practice did an exceptional job to help our teenage son and our family through a very rough time, which is why we are writing this review. We initially met with "Dr. Mike" for a consultation and then our son was evalueated with formal psychology testing. The results from the report were amazingly accurate and helpful. We finally had a diagnose and we finally had a game plan. We then began therapy and medication management, and within just a couple of months our son and our family was back to normal. We are so thankful for everything the practice has done for us and recommend them to everyone we know whenever we get a chance. They aren't cheap, however, but from our experience they are worth every dime we spent there. We tried the cheap approach and went to practices that took our insurance in the past, but let's just say that those moments didn't work out well and we learned quickly that you get what you pay for...even in the world of medical treatment. If you can afford this group, and you are in need of help, go!

We have seen Dr. Michael Oberschneider for several years now and with excellent results. We also see Dr. Novello at the practice and received testing for our son who has ADHD. My husband and I cannot say enough about the practice and the doctors and the many ways in which they have helped our son and our family. From IEP meetings and great results from therapy and medication work to weekend and late night phone calls in times of crisis, they have always been there for us, which we are thankful for. After seeing many thearpists and psychiatrists over the years, we can attest that these guys are the best of the best. Thanks APS, and we will continue to recommend you to our friends when appropriate.

We saw Dr. Oberschneider, or "Dr. Mike," upon the recommendation of the director of our child's school. Our family had been through many therapists with little change, but we learned more about our child's problems (and his needs) from Dr. Mike in one meeting than we had in several months of treatment with others. He quickly identified our child's problems and ours as parents and spent equal time alone with our child and alone with us. Dr. Mike is excellent with young teens with Asperger's. We also see Dr. Joseph Novello at the practice for medication, and he too is excellent. My husband and I recognized Dr. Novello's voice immediately from his radio show, The Family Doctor, that used to be aired in DC. Our son was also tested at the practice for his learning and processing struggles, and they did a great job! Hands down, the practice is excellent, and we will continue to recommend them all to our friends.

I normally don't write reviews for doctors, but we have been so pleased with our experience at this practice that my husband and I wanted to give credit where credit is due. Our pediatrician recommended Ashburn Psychological Services to us for our son. We had our son evaluated by the practice's neuropsychologist (Dr. Amy Gordon), and then we have stayed on for therapy. First of all, the previous diagnosis we received at a nearby practice was incorrect, and we knew it as parents. We weren't listned to, and we wasted a lot of time and money in unnecissary treatment. Dr. Amy Gordon addressed the problem and accurately diagnosed our son. Our son has remained at the practice and sees "Dr. Mike" Oberschneider for therapy. Dr. Oberschneider is an outstanding therapist. His insights, direction and strategies, both for my son and for us as parents, are always spot on. Our son is doing great, and we are needing to see Dr. Oberschneider less and less. We are discussing a Summer break due to his progress. Ashburn Psychological Services has restored our faith in mental health treatment, and we give them our highest recommendation.

I worked with Dr. Michael Oberschneider for about two and a half years. When I first came to him, I did not expect to like him. I came to him a bit upset but mostly confused as to why my parents had brought me to a psychologist. I didn't want Dr. Oberschneider to help me, and I didn't want to be there. He seemed to understand this. He had a gentle, almost apologetic attitude for our first vists. He never tried to force himself into my mind or dig at any of my insecurities. Rather, he asked me questions and let me work them out myself. He asked the right questions though -- the type of questions that made you think about yourself; the ones you didn't always have an answer to right away. He had a very kind way of reserving judgment about my flaws yet complemented aspects of mine that were positive. He made me see myself as a better person, and separate productive attributes of mine, from self destructive habits focused on instant gratification. Dr. Oberschneider is a true psychologist -- one that talks patients through the process of figuring out their own internal disagreements. He never tries to encompass the complexity that is the human brain in a single diagnosis or term just so that he can write a prescription and leave it at that. He displayed compassion, diligence and a lot of hard work by not giving up on me or by not taking short cuts in our therapy sessions. He stuck with me for almost three years before he, but more importantly, I was confident that I was able to control my behavior and recognize trouble seeking habits. Dr. Oberschneider is a role model and postive authority figure -- but most of all he is a friend who accepts his patiens as they are and makes them want to better themselves. I would highly recommend Dr. Oberschneider for ancy child, young adult or adult who is having trouble escaping self destructive, addicting or problematic behaviors. His holistic views of his patiens, gentle yet intriguiging input and patients with his patients makes him a psychologist that will not just diagnose and prescribe -- but a psychologist who willl help resolve the deepest issues withinin a patient permanently.

Our child had difficulty making the transition to high school and the new group of people and influences encountered therein. We decided our whole family would benefit from our child undergoing psychological counseling with Dr. Oberschneider.

Dr. Oberschneider firmly established and managed family expectations from the outset. He clearly expressed what he hoped to accomplish with our child, what he would and would not share with us as parents, and how he expected us to respect the confidentiality he shared with our child. Establishing these boundaries proved instrumental in giving our child confidence to develop a trusting and therapeutic relationship with Dr. Oberschneider that would remain between them and not subject to outside inquiry or influence.

As counseling progressed Dr. Oberschneider accurately identified the root causes or our child’s difficulties. Through testing Dr. Oberschneider and one of his associates ruled out a variety of additional problems and potential causes to make clear what we were – and were not – dealing with.

Over time Dr. Oberschneider implemented a number of growth and coping strategies with our child and we began to see changes in how our child related to us, other people, and life situations. One by one negative influences and inappropriate friends and behaviors were weeded out. Our child began dressing for success, developed a positive outlook, exuded confidence, took a part-time job that required greeting and interacting with customers, became a straight-A student for the final two years of high school and was accepted into a number of respected universities.

Dr. Oberschneider’s methodical, professional, and trusting but firm approach made a dramatic and remarkable positive impact on our child. Our family was reeling from the cumulative effects of our child’s destructive behavior when we first met with the doctor. We’re thankful that through Dr. Oberschneider’s personal and professional skill our child was given the time, opportunity and insight necessary to recognize, take responsibility for and ultimately overcome the issues responsible for the negative behavior.

It is with a deep sense of relief and gratitude we recommend Dr. Michael Oberschneider to others who may face a similar situation with their child.

Dr. Michael Oberschneider has been a tremendous asset to our family. He worked with my three children for approxinately 2 years while they were in preschool. "Dr. Mike" helped me learn how to parent 3 extremely challenging children. I used to carry a notebook to our appointments and looked forward to our weekly sessions. He would always greet us with a friendly "hello" and ask how things were going since our last session. Dr. Mike would often provide reasonable suggestions and strategies to sue for the existing problems I was experiencing with the trials and tributes of parenting that week. All of my children enjoyed working with Dr. Mike. They enjoyed getting a small treat from him after he worked with them. My children still remember him. He made a positive and lasting impression on them. Because of Dr. Mike we learned how to be better parents and how to help our children learn how to deal with their difficult emotions and challenges within their lives. I highly recommend Dr. Mike to any family with small children. He is an amazing therapist.

Dr. Michael Oberschneider and the doctors at APS are an integral part of our healthcare. Having been through several crises with them over several years, they have always provided the highest degree of support that has been more than just counseling. "Dr. Mike" knows his patients are real people who need accurate and honest third-party perspectives when unimaginable life and emotional events arise. Dr. Rasheed see his patients as being more than just prescriptions. His concern for his patients includes basic medicine as part of his treatment process, and he will take the time to make sure that all questions are answered when they are asked. Thank you APS for all that you have done for me and my family.

Dr. Seth is an excellent psychiatrist and has been a great help to me. I am very grateful for the time, care and attention that she has given me. Things improved for me under Dr. Seth's care within a short period of time, which I am thankful for and which is why I am chosing to post this positive review. I was recommended to this practice by our internal medicine doctor, and Dr. Seth's credentials are also impeccable. It's also nice to find a female psychiatrist with a warm and engaging manner who doesn't rush you through an appointment.
