I went to the office located in Port St Lucie. First it was extremely difficult to find . Second it's located on the 2nd floor so I had to call them and tell me where I could find an elevator. The building looks like a motel and is not welcoming at all..., dark and dirty in the corridors, above a garage !!
I had a last minute appointment with Dr Shipe for a free consultation. Steven, his assistant, welcomed me very nicely and asked me to read a lot of litterature regarding acupuncture. Then came what looks to be in this office the MAJOR concern = payment !! The receptionist, very nice lady by the way, explained to me that every treatment has to be paid FIRST then told me that if I want a full exam, it will cost $85 to $150 but.....they will charge me anyway $150 and then if the exam lasts less time as expected, I will have a "credit" for future treatments.....I found that totally unappropriate because it shows that from start, they don't trust you !!! Their treatment cost is $85 for 20mn when in other acupuncturist offices, it's $35 to $40 ! I was told that this is because Dr Shipe practices real acupuncture.
The free consultation lasted 10mn and I barely had time to explain all my health issues. Dr Shipe was not smiling at all, showing few interest, almost tired. I was suffering so much that his assistant found the way to "squeeze" me between 2 patients for having a treatment. So I waited a long time and finally get an acupunture treatment. But they had no soft table on which I could lay comfortably and had to find a lounge chair in a storage room where they could finally do it. But...they even didn't have a bathrobe to wrap myself once undressed and gave me a small towel only . After the treatment, Dr Shipe told me that he will prepare a special cream in his pharmacy for my neck and I had to wait 30 more mn to receive it.
I left thinking that they will contact me and check how I was doing and if I wanted to have a new treatment but 1 full week has passed and nobody is calling me or sending me a message. So in conclusion, I decided not to go back there even though I am sure that Dr Shipe has a great chinese medecine acknowledge because it looks like their main concern is getting money....

A plan of treatment was detailed and choice of cost of plan for care was carefully explained. There was no requirement of accepting offered additional supplements, though the additional complement to care was beneficial. Not only were they able to provide everything they promised me, they went above and beyond as well as exceeded my expectations. There is never a discomfort of feeling my concerns are unimportant. They take extra effort to make sure every question is fully addressed. Answers are detailed with understandable explanations. Prior to each acupuncture treatment, thorough interviews, of progress, are taken. There is feeling of respect and full attention to all aspects of care. The atmosphere is calm, I do not feel rushed at all. I am impressed with the level of knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine. The attending of continual educational seminars to improve care, is evident. They provide a personalized prescription of"Tea". A strange assortment of herbs (combined in their own "pharmacy") in large mesh bags, with detailed instructions how to brew, and when to drink. Teas chang as the series of appointments occur. All of my personal concerns of declining health are improving as I continue with this superior treatment. I have chosen they will be my Primary Healthcare Team.
