Dr Amy Murphy knew from an early age that she wanted to be a surgeon. She was encouraged by the scientists in her family and motivated by her siblings. She even has a drawing from the fifth grade depicting herself as a surgeon! She earned a bachelor's degree cum laude in biomedical engineering, the perfect foundation for surgery and the mechanical devices often used in critical care. Dr Murphy takes care of patients with trauma and emergency general surgery needs. She also provides postoperative surgical and medical critical care in the ICU. She is skilled in managing ventilators, renal failure after surgical complications and managing cardiovascular issues.
