Joseph Portoghese, MD

Joseph D Portoghese, MD, FACS was originally board-certified in general surgery in 1992 and specializes in both general surgery and minimally-invasive surgery for an array of medical conditions. During his tenure with Florida Hospital, he served as President of Medical Staff from 2004 to 2006. Following, Dr Portoghese established the General Surgery Residency Program, which was first accredited in 2006, and served as the Program Director. He is currently the Chief Academic Officer. His passion for ensuring both surgery patients and surgery residents receive the latest in technology, techniques and positive outcomes is evidenced by the standards he put in place, as well as the leadership positions he currently holds.
