Beverly Reader, Dr.

Dr. Reader completed her psychiatry residency training at Georgetown University Hospital after a transitional internship at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Medical School in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated with distinction with a B.A. in Biology from San Diego State University in San Diego, California.

Dr. Reader is a clinical faculty member at The George Washington University Department of Psychiatry, and currently works as a psychiatrist at the Student Health Services at George Washington University, serving the mental health needs of the undergraduate, graduate, medical and law school students at GWU.

Dr. Reader also has extensive experience as a community psychiatrist, working with the chronically mentally ill, those struggling with addiction and medical illness and the underserved.

In addition, she completed subspecialty training in reproductive psychiatry and womens mental health issues including mental health treatment considerations prior to conception, during pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, as well as pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder, and menopausal mood symptoms.

Dr. Readers practice philosophy incorporates a holistic and comprehensive style. This includes medication management to alleviate symptoms, psychotherapy, and coordinated care with patients obstetricians, primary care doctors, therapists, psychological testing if indicated, as well as referrals to alternative treatment modalities.
