I have to join in on the 1 star reviews of Apria....but only because there aren't minus 10 ratings. I've been on a CPAP since 2000. My first provider was Ron Andrews and there were great. When I had to go on Medicare in the early 1990's Apria (or Crapria) became the designated provider and we had to go to them or no where. They were awful. They didn't send supplies, didn't answer their phones, you name it, they messed up. After many complaints to Medicare they finally got their act together.

Three years ago I received a new CPAP and about 18 months later it started making a loud noise and turning off in the middle of the night. Apria replaced it in December 2020 as it was under warranty -- a two year warranty.

The "new" one started making the loud noise last week on September 20, 2020 and turning off in the middle of the night so I called Crapria and spoke to a customer service person who immediately got me to a respiratory therapist who said the machine was under warranty and I needed to get it replaced ASAP. A short time later a customer no-service person from Crapria called and said that I needed to see my doctor and get a note to replace the machine under warranty. IT IS UNDER WARRANTY.....YOU DON'T NEED A DOCTOR TO APPROVE A WARRANTY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. She insisted that the prescription they have is from 2019 so even though the machine is less than 2 years old I needed a doctor visit. She didn't understand the difference between a warranty and a prescription. I explained to her that the reason people are on CPAPS is because we stop breathing while we are sleeping and if nothing wakes us up and gets us breathing again we aren't going to be breathing ever again because we would be dead. She said she was sorry to hear that.

I asked to talk to her supervisor thinking he might know the difference between a warranty and a prescription. It took her over 5 minutes to connect me to him....or his voicemail. He didn't return that call or the call the next day. It has been 5 days and no courtesy return call.

I called back on September 21 and got the customer service person who knew what to do and she said she was going to talk to the supervisor and promised to call me back that day. She lied...she didn't call back on the 21st, the 22nd or since. They DID, however, call my doctor and told him he needs to send a note....ON A WARRANTY REPAIR/REPLACEMENT.

Ironically the FDA sent out a message on Saturday the 24th: "Philips Respironics (Philips) is recalling certain BiPAP machines that may contain a plastic contaminated with a non-compatible material. If that plastic is in the device motor, it may release certain chemicals of concern called volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The plastic may also cause the machine to fail and stop working suddenly during use.

If the plastic causes the machine to fail and stop working suddenly, it may also lead to serious injury or death."

That would be my machine. Apria....or Crapria sucks and I'm contacting Medicare and my insurance company to try to get assigned to a company that understand the different between a warranty and a prescription and how critical it is for someone who uses a CPAP to have one that works.
