My mom was seeing Dr Torgeson for a kidney infection. After two attempts at a failed stint they had inserted a drain into the kidney and scheduled her to get it removed. Come to find out, she had a tumor (cancer) which was causing the blockage so she started Chemo. About 3 weeks after the drain was put in, she ended up in the hospital with a staff infection around the drain site & a kidney infection. Her oncologist stopped by to check on her...Dr Torgeson never called or stopped by once. She finally got in to see Torgeson (because she was having problems with her drain tube) last week after many unreturned calls...she asked him why he didn't call to check on her when she was in the hospital or even after she was discharged...he replied, "you weren't admitted on my watch."

Find a different doctor. In my mom's particular situation, she never felt a connection. Her oncologist has given her a referral to a different urologist.

I'm not even going to give my thoughts regarding why he never saw the tumor, which was the size of a gumball...he was right there trying to shove a stint through it.

Dr. Torgerson was belittling and condescending to me. It appeared he was angry and hostile. He took me out of the exam room and to his office, with no explanation. I understood why later. He began a barrage of highly confrontational questioning with accusations and questioned my motives for being there. He likely preferred to do this from his own office where he was in control and where other patients couldn't hear his berating. This was beyond poor bedside manners. I left feeling like I had really done something wrong, even though I hadn't, afraid and humiliated. I actually asked him at the end if I was "dismissed", since he reminded me of an army sergeant reprimanding a private.
