My Husband of 35 years is in this nursing home and they treat him very good. My husband had a serious stroke. The only thing that I do not care for is how someone registered my husband as a Democrat to vote for Hillary Clinton without my knowledge or his knowledge. He has been a die hard republican for 50 years and would never vote for Hillary Clinton. I researched and have a name of a person, the name is P. Birkenback. So if your loved one is in this nursing home be aware that Hillary has a minion registering the elderly and not of sound mind votes for Hillary Clinton. Respectfully

My 85-year old mother was admitted to Villa Monte Vista in February 2013 following a precipitous six-month health decline due to advanced diabetes, dementia and chronic spinal stenosis. Her pain was chronic and debilitating and her cognition had deteriorated alarmingly. After six at-home falls and two stays in the hospital, we realized that Mom needed more care than we could provide at home. The level of compassionate nursing care she has received at 'the Villa' has been a godsend. Every staff member greets her by name and a smile. Her health has improved beyond expectation and she is learning to adapt to her memory lapses and incontinence with humor. She has made a circle of friends among the residents and even remembers their names now. She plays BINGO with two cards---and wins! She loves the sing-a-longs at Friday's Happy Hour. The staff worked to select the 'right' roommate for Mom...and they succeeded. The two 'girls' laugh together and enjoy each other's company. Was Mom's transition to living at the Villa easy??? No, the first three months were very tough. But the extended family atmosphere created by the staff and the frequent visits by family helped Mom understand that this is her new home where she'll receive the 24/7 care she needs. Dr. LaFond is conscientious and caring. The nursing staff work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs with professional expertise and compassion. The nutritionist addresses 140 different dietary needs three times a day with adequate meals. The social worker, Katie, is accessible and caring. The activity director, Patty, organizes a variety of daily activities and sees that residents are encouraged to participate to their ability. Once a month, the residents are assembled to provide feedback regarding concerns and suggestions about the menu, nursing, maintenance, activities and housekeeping issues. By the way, Mom is on MEDI-CAL and her level of care has not been compromised. Mom is in better shape now than a year ago. She has not fallen once at the Villa. It's a best-case scenario for a very difficult and poignant stage in her life.
