This facility have skilled nursing, assisted living and independent (casita or apartment) living. If you're independent and can still go around without help, the casitas is the perfect place for you. But if you're sick/weak and need help, I would not live in this place without my own trusted private caregiver especially in the assisted living where the employees are rude and lazy. Caregivers in the assisted living are nice if the client is still alert and can still tell family and relatives what's going on, but if the clients are confused and needs help all the time this is not the place to be. they yell to the elderly that always ask for help. They will discourage you to get your own private caregiver, they will tell you that you don't need private caregivers because the have caregivers 24/7. But the moment you call for help it takes them 45 minutes to 2 hours to respond, sometimes no response at all. And if they come in to help you often times they are grouchy. They don't want you to get private care because they don't want someone to witness what they do to the confused clients/residents.

Horrible Care

Recently an elderly Family member of mine was moved to this facility with a broken leg. While at the facility he began suffering from Hallucinations and Confusion. He had a major bladder infection that was never treated correctly. The wound care he received from a bed sore that he got while he was there was treated poorly. His full leg cast was filthy and covered in feces and we are not even sure if they ever noticed. Finally my mother fought to get him sent to the hospital to get his mental state checked out and when the hospital was ready to send him back to the facility he was no longer welcomed back. The hospital gave plenty of warning they wanted to release him and they waited until late Friday afternoon to respond.

Don't let someone you care about go into this horrible facility, look at getting care elsewhere.

The Fountains at Carlotta has always been a great facility. My loved one has been in/out the skilled nursing three times in the past and has always received great care. We are now experiencing the Carlotta under the new ownership of Water Mark Communities and I am sad to report the facility has gone downhill. The management is now insensitive to our family needs. We were told what we wanted to hear upon settling our loved one into the facility, but were provided a different situation. When I discussed it with the facility the feeling was, we got you into the facility and now we’re going to provide you with what works for us and really don’t care about your feelings. The manager lied to us on several occasions and could care less about it. Upon my last visit I was told my loved one needed to go to Hospice which was news to me. I was told I would be called and the director would discuss options with me. It has been two days and no call. I have left several messages with the facility and with the director and still no return call. This is so insensitive I cannot believe it is happening. I’m truly upset about the new management and their lack of compassion.

This is a concentration camp that squeezes the dollars out of the elderly by fabricating mental conditions that don't exist so that they can argue to Medicare they are a risk to themselves and must be medicated into a vegetable state, hence, must remain confined rather than going back to their apartment in another part of that nice looking, yet depressing complex. Ronda, the skill nursing commandant, is a loud bully who won't listen due to having a so-called (and fabricated) Care Plan to follow, but will not reveal. (Because it does not exist)

They weren't very understanding or caring, and they didn't show empathy for my situation. I could tell I wasn't their primary concern. I was treated as if I had a "mental problem" which my daughter assured them that I did not have. I'm absolutely positive that I would have gotten better service somewhere else. I was disappointed that their staff didn't seem to respect me or my primary doctors' Dr. William Longfellow) wishes regarding appts. set up which the DOR cancelled. They were disrespectful and the Dir.of Nursing, Rhonda, totally ignored my request (from my family friend attorney) to provide a simple explanation in writing as to why my appt. with my primary care physician, Dr. Longfellow, was cancelled...as well as why an appt. with my surgeon's directions to see a neurologist, Dr. LaBib, was cancelled. I am, apparently, under the care of one Dr. Roberts, who has visited me only twice (for very limited visit) and no physician has addressed the medical reason that I broke my hip. (Supposed "vertigo").
My cardiologist, Dr. Beckerman was not happy that my primary care physician's appt. had not been approved by Rhondha, DON, even though the appt. had been made 48 hours in advance and transport was already arranged. Dr. LaBib's appt. was also cancelled, even though the facility had 48 hours notice. i feel my patient rights have been seriously compromised and I am involving my family attorney to address these violation of my rights, per his request. To date, Rhonda, DON, has adamantly rrefused to put anything in writing per my attorney's request.
I find this situation nothing short of irresponsible and uncaring. I am a member of the Residents Council and as such, intend to bring these Issues to the Council. Our residents deserve better treatment than what I personally have experienced and what I have heard from other skilled nursing patients.
Looking forward to a happy resolution on issues I (and my family attorney) are bringing to light,
