If I could give no stars I would. I would not recommend Manor Care to anyone. My father was there for rehabilitation after acute rehab from heart surgery. The nurses at night couldn't be bothered when he was having issues breathing. He got up to get help and fell on the ground. Finally the nurse found him on the floor and called me that he had a small cut on his head. I told them to send him to the ER. Really I have to tell them do to this and where you that busy at 2:00 am to help someone. Needless to say, when my dad arrived at the ER he was having a heart attack. Cant say anything good about this place.

This is older facility. Needs to be brought up to newer standards. Even TV is small and difficult for older patients to use. Mounted on swing arm behind the bed. If you can't walk someone need to move into position. Then too close to persons face. Should have modern units on wall. Beds are very old and not many adjustments for residents comfort. The staff tries to help but understaffed. I have seen people on floor because lack of assistance. Some people need assistance cutting food. So they have almost a mush to eat. Not a pleasant sight. Especially when the can eat regular food. They charge same as newer facilities for less quality. Recommend another location.

Many times my Mother would sit in her wheel chair and cry because she had to wait at times over an hour for someone to help her to the bathroom. When family were asked for help during meal times they were told all the techs were in the dining room and there was no one to help.

The worse for me is the morning my Mom passed away. I advised the nurse my Mom was in distress but she never came to check on my Mom. When my Mom did pass I advised the nurse, she came and checked my Mom's vitals and said she's gone what time did she die. Not once did she she say I'm sorry for your loss. I sat alone with my Mom till family and a very nice Chaplin arrived. I will say that a very nice Enviormental Tech saw what was going on at the time when my Mom passed and how distressed I was came him and held me while I cried and said how sorry she was. I was so glad I was able to stay over night with my Mom as I know she did not die alone.

I did this kind of work for many years so I'm speaking as someone who did this kind of work. I have never had anyone die alone as I checked on dying patients and sat with them on my own time. I even had family members tell me they could rest easy knowing I was there which helped me to work even harder.

The nursing/aid staff tries their best, but they are under-staffed. The management doesn't even try. The social services director is NOT a licensed clinical social worker, nor does she have nursing training. The Medicare/Medicaid materials they give out have incorrect information. The communication between ManorCare staff and family is almost non-existent. I would not recommend this facility unless nothing else is available and home is not an option. ManorCare should be an absolute LAST resort for the truly desperate.
