I was a patient of Dr Wood around 1966 and she made a huge difference in my life. I actually was trying to contact her and thank her.

I have been to many psychiatrists before, just to be able to maintain a regular prescription routine for Adult ADD treatment. I've had doctors who have quit the profession out of frustration dealing with pressures between insurance companies, licensing authorities, federal/state regulation changes. I've had to commute long distances to be seen by available practitioners, and I've been scrutinized, questioned, re-tested, and patronized so often that I've begun to feel shame and taboos that I don't even believe in. Sue has been different. She understands that there is an unnecessary game that must be navigated by patients. Dr. Wood sticks with what works for me and does not try to up-sell me on new drugs pushed by the manufacturers. She does not subscribe to trends, and offers her learned experience with what methods fall short of their promise. Dr. Wood recognizes the difference between when a prescription refill is needed vs. my needing a full session, and she balances the two--with my well-being of primary concern.

Parents: I would STRONGLY suggest finding another doctor for your child. She is great for people like me (people that want easy access to prescription drugs) because she'll prescribe anything. However, I would never seek significant psychiatric help from her. I'll illustrate with a story:

Dr. Wood suggested for me 20mg/day of a drug. I went through it faster than she prescribed and told her that I thought 25mg might serve me better. By the end of the appointment, not only did she meet my request, but she prescribed 50mg! When I expressed concerns that 50 may affect my sleep patterns, she said that she would just prescribe me sleeping pills to counteract it.

Unless you have no problem with loading your child full of chemicals, I would suggest finding another provider.
