A very cesarean happy doctor. She scheduled me to be induced “in hopes of” a natural birth. She scheduled me to be induced because she said she was going out of town on my actual due date, and if I wanted her to be present during my birth, then I needed to have the baby early. After induction, she gave me 16 hours of labor on my 1st baby and that was it, and then she performed a cesarean without any medical reasoning. I switched doctors with my 2nd baby, and they looked over the records and confirmed that there was no medical reason Dr. Ferrara should have performed a cesarean. I would not recommend her. Dr. Ferrara is a selfish doctor, and I’m so sad that I trusted her to care for me during such a vulnerable time.

She is willing to work with me since I have a chronic disease and she'll work with my other doctors on handling any issues that come up. She's been this way for me over a decade.

As an OBGYN, Dr. Jean Ferrara is qualified to deliver a healthy baby. But I strongly advise anyone reading this not to use her as a doctor. The experience of being her patient leaves much to be desired: Dr. Ferrara’s bedside manner is rushed and aloof; she does not listen particularly well; and I often found her to be dismissive of my questions and individualized concerns. In particular, she repeatedly trivialized of my post-delivery pain and unfortunately left me thoroughly unsupported at the point in the pregnancy when I needed her most.

My baby is healthy, and I thank her for that. However, based upon my experience as her patient, I cannot under any circumstances recommend her as a physician. There are many excellent OBGYNs serving Plano, TX; I strongly urge you to see someone other than Jean Ferrara.
