I have been a patient of Dr. Spelman since 2008 and I am so grateful for her. Dr. Spelman is professional, intelligent, empathetic, and wise. When I first went to see her, I was suicidal, had 2 small children, a marriage that was on the rocks, and just lost my apartment. I could see no reason to go on. Little did I know what was really going on. She diagnosed me with Bipolar Disorder 1. Once she explained to me what that was all about, I realized that I had this my entire life and so many things now made sense that never made sense before. She admitted me immediately for care and we followed up outpatient. Dr. Spelman is a GENIUS about medications! She knows all the new (and old) meds, what they do, the side effects, how they work together, and anything else you want to know about them. She collaborates with you as the patient, working as a team on your plan of care. She is amazing and I recommend her highly to anyone who needs mental health treatment.

Dr. Spelman has seen me over the past several years and I continue to receive excellent care and advice. She is straight forward and very respectful no matter what the discussions are about. She has helped me immensely and given me confidence in myself.

Suffering with several lifelong disorders that drove success in my youth, each crashed at the same time and brought me to the brink of becoming an emotional cripple Dr. Spelman gave me the counsel and tools I needed to understand, cope, and manage my diseases. It took a number of intense sessions for her to diagnose and begin to treat me. She DOES NOT PRESCRIBE MEDICATION unless you fully understand why, what, and how to monitor changes. While on medication she insists on regular sessions to assure need for continuance. I'll never be cured, but she is responsible for giving me the counsel to live a happy, fulfilling life. Several months after we began meeting, my wife drove me to an appointment to introduce herself - when I introduced them, my wife broke down while thanking the Dr. for "giving me my husband back". She truly saved me.

Their office was easy enough to locate. I didn't have too much trouble finding it. They are one of the most polite, respectful people I've ever met. There was no annoying music playing while I waited or during my visit. I appreciated that they didn't have that typical elevator music on. I was amazed by how professional and friendly their staff was. They went above and beyond what I ever expected. I feel like they go out of their way to accommodate my schedule. I always get the appointment time I want.
