You couldn’t pay me enough to return there again. I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at any doctor. They didn't help me as much as I was hoping and didn't answer all my questions. They are almost always unavailable. It was difficult to get an ideal appointment time that fit my schedule. Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there.
A large mass was found on my left kidney incidently when i developed a gall stone. I had no symptoms of a kidney problem. I was seen by the urology team (residents) at UNMH and told that I had a 50% chance of having kidney cancer. To make a very long story short... Dr Smith refused to meet with me prior to my surgery. He NEVER visited my bedside after my surgery. The man had the nerve to call me at home before my surgery date (another MD had told me he thought the mass was benign) so i opted to wait for 6 months and rescan. Dr. Smith called me @ 6:30 PM and informed me that I should not delay surgery. He told me he knew what he was looking at and with all his years of experience he was convinced that I had a cancer in my kidney. What can a individual do when they are told such a thing? I went ahead with the surgery and had my left kidney removed. I begged this man to meet with me. He ignored my pleas and referred me to meet with the radiologist to review my CT scan. I sent him a email that I was confused about why he believed my kidney was cancerous. After my surgery, I asked to talk to him. He NEVER came to my bedside to answer my questions. Always the residents.Although they were very kind, they were not the attending physician. They would just tell me was not available when I asked to talk to him. I am a nurse at the facility that i had my surgery. I am so disappointed in the lack of communication. Turns out, I did not have cancer.
