I believe there is an exceptional place for large breed dogs; even those that come along with a connotation of being aggressive. This is NOT the place for this type of dog. We recently adopted a Rottweiler who is quite lovely with our family. He is truly the sweetest dog; however, he is defensive of his home and his people, especially when on a leash. ( a very well known trait of this animal). When this gentle giant has a torn toenail, we sought out help and advice. Upon the VET entering the room, our dog did what I was ready for; lunging and fierce growling to protect his humans. Armed with his first ever muzzle, his owner has never felt more safe meeting a stranger. The stranger, a VET at this clinic, proceeded to chastise and question the owner about home insurance and almost refused to touch the animal who was now quiet. Are your animals anxious at the vet office? I'm sure you have a history with them there; we do not. We adopted this sweet guy and know in our gut he has been mistreated, so therefore, I do not know just how anxious a vet office makes my sweet boy, until today. Refusing to touch my animal, I questioned the next step as his toenail literally hung off his body, causing him great distress. I promised to keep complete control of him, if the VET could please assess it closer. While assessing, he grabbed his paw, and with his hands twisted and pulled his nail off. No tools. No special nail clippers, no reassurance of any kind that he would not get infected. Just told me we would get pain meds and to let him lick it as much as he wanted to. HUH. Now seeing stars I'm sure, our sweet boy has released his anal glands and needs to be cleaned up and will now allow the person who hurt him, a chance to pet him without incident. He wags his tail at him as now we have moved on and I am being questioned now about his vaccination history. Letting him know we are still getting to know each other, and I have not had him to the vet quite yet, I am nearly belittled in this moment. Any adoptive dog moms know this feeling?? I just experienced it. All I have is a mere piece of paper, dated in such that he is "due" or now "past due" for his shots as this VET is happy to point out. I may be " just a nurse", but I am 100% aware of when I am being talked to as if I can't form 2 thoughts together. I am handed a scrap piece of paper with some person's name on it for obedience training, although everyone failed to see my big guy followed every one of my commands to sit and stay and try to be calm. His one act, is now labeled as "viscous", and I am asked to hold him like before as the VET now updates his shots and I can shed my scarlet letter and disregarding stares for not vaccinating my animal. One should never leave a location feeling like an idiot, and a reckless person who cannot care for an animal. The idiot fee is free here. Hurry in now.

They are amazing vets! The staff truly cares more about the animals than your pocketbook. The prices are very reasonable, but it is the attention to detail and care that the animal receives that sets them far above other vets. I will never go anywhere else!!! I recently had to put our sweet 9yr old Great Dane, Leo, to sleep and they were so kind, let us take as much time as needed with him, and then I received a letter from the SPCA. I was so moved to find out that they made a generous donation in his name. What more can I say!!!
