I noticed a real lack of moral. The staff were wonderful, but it was very obvious that the administor does not have any regard for his staff. Plastic smile with lip service, but little else

Staff were unprofessional and incompetent. After being discharged from a local hospital the resident arrived for rehab services in the evening. The patient was mainly there for rehab and a concern for falling in the home after being newly diagnosed with metastatic cancer to the brain. At 1000p on day of admission to Manchester manor the family was told they "did not have his medication". When family asked to speak to the nursing supervisor she was rude and condescending stating that his medication was "not life or death". After pleading for the nursing supervisor to look into getting the medication the family was told “great news we have the decadron! The treating nurse did not realize it was also called dexamethasone!” Obviously, this did not build confidence.
The nurses aids were on a 1:15 ratio and were not able to keep up with the demands of the call bells. The bed alarm was not turned on and when family inquired they were told the batteries were dead and it would take "several hours" to replace. Even after alerting the nursing supervisor it took 3 hours to replace bed alarm.
Despite talking to the soical worker and reviewing the needs of applying for disability and looking for assistance with this process on day of admission, the social worker the following day had no knowledge of any conversations.
The lack of communication and coordination was abysmal. The patients daily oncology appointments were faxed to the facility before arriving with W2 and med list, as well as hand delivered to the nurse treating the patient and to the nursing supervisor. Another copy was placed in the patients room for reminders. Despite all of these attempts to communicate his schedule the treating nurse had no knowledge he would be leaving for an appointment. Her response, "well i hope you can still get physical therapy today".
Several members of my family are in the health care profession and found the communication and just plain lack of empathy and compassion towards our terminally ill family member unlawful. This facility is NOT a good fit for ANYONE looking for intermediate level care. I urge you to look at other facilities.
