Still plodding on ..... sometimes cycling, sometimes punching!

by Jon

I started getting email notifactions from Wellness about a goal I had ticked many moons ago. Cannot remember if I created the goal or if I just agreed that it was a good one. Judging by my photo I have not been here for about six years and this means that my life has rather radically changed.

I no longer train in kung-fu, I gave that up in 2008, about a year after my first son was born. However, I have recently started going to karate lessons - both my sons do karate at our local karate club (kazen kai) and they started an over 40s class so I decided to give it a go. That was about six months ago and I am still dragging my sorry arse along to try to get back in shape. Time has not been good to me.

I no longer work in London - I left London to work for myself. That lasted almost six years. In March 2015 I got a job in a local firm near to my kids' school, which is handy. Short commute and I get to see my kids morning and afternoon.

Last summer I was inspired by an article I read on the interweb about cycling for health and weight loss (I think it was this one) and bought myself a "hybrid bike"* and, if the weather is good, I cycle around aimlessly. Well, sometimes I cycle to a pub! Last year I made it to several of my old haunts (where friends would drive me) and this was rather good fun.

Unfortunately, as I no longer work from home for myself, this will be a struggle this year. Oh well.

Right, so here I am, back again, mostly thanks to the 82 people who commented on a wellness goal that I made many years ago!

Tara for now!

* I hate the term hybrid bike. We used to have bikes, specialist racing bikes (now road bikes) and later, mountain bikes (still mountain bikes). So a hybrid bike is not a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike - it is a normal, traditional, BIKE!
