I started seeing Dr Spellman around the summer of 2014. I began searching for a therapist, particularly a psychiatrist, shortly after marrying my wife. I knew there were areas in my life that I needed to address, in order to give our marriage the best chance of success. I found Dr Spellman, called her, left a message, and soon after she called me back. Talking with her on the phone, even, reassured something in me that my decision to call Dr. Spellman, was a very good decision. I started visiting Dr Spellman on my own for approximately 3 months. This was very helpful to issues I was struggling with; things such as depression and attention difficulties. Along the way, Dr Spellman encouraged me to bring my wife to our therapy sessions. My wife was resistant to therapy, yet agreed to come. Fast forward to almost 3 years later, and there is little little doubt about the absolute blessing that Dr Spellman has had on our life, and upon our family. My wife and myself, visit with Dr Spellman regularly, and it has always been a positive factor in our marriage, life, and family. An absolute blessing. Dr Spellman is much more than simply a psychiatrist, she is a fantastic therapist, who listens. Dr. Spellman has the unique ability to address all aspects of a persons being; mind, body, soul and spirit. Yet even here, Dr Spellman has an ability to address specific areas; such as mind or body, as well as a persons whole being.
I'm always amazed at how considerate and concerned they are for my well-being. Their advice is always wonderful and completely unbiased. They were so kind and attentive to me. I didn't have to worry about them arguing with me, or contradicting what I had to say, which has been a problem for me at other places. I've already been recommending them to all my friends and family. I don't think there's a better psychiatrist out there. The one thing that I really enjoy about this place is their high level of customer service. Their full attention is always on me and they never take personal calls during my appointment. I've been to other places that answer their phone and it just drives me crazy. They make an extra effort to get to know their patients and find out what they need. They always remember me and make me feel very important.
Plus, the Doctor keeps up with a variety of fields that have bearing on health, and also, the Doctor understands "transference" for what it is, something that happens in therapy but something that ethical doctors will not take advantage of. This Physician is Recommended!
Dr. Spellman is a very good listener, which in my experience is a rare skill in medicine. She was able to diagnose what my difficulty was, also a rare skill; plus she suggested some standard and some alternative (nutritional) modes of treatment. I have learned a lot during sessions with Dr. Spellman, and recommend her. If you need some help, her office is a good place to find help.
