Staff is very friendly and have caring attitude toward your pets. It was my first visit there but I will not be coming back for a couple of reasons. My dog had diarreha so i called saturday morning saying i planned to come in around 4:30pm (they closed at 5pm) because I didnt get off work until 4pm, and the receptionist told me nicely that theres a possibility that they will have to turn me away and i will have to go to an emergency clinic if i come that late. So I made an appointment for midday during my lunch break, thinking i made an appointment so it shouldnt take too long. Well, I ended up waiting for 40 minutes before going into the room and an additional 20 minutes to be seen by the vet, because there was only 1 vet working. He prescribed an antibiotic which i thought would be for dogs only. When i saw the pills were human medication (metronidazole 250mg tablets) I ask if i could get a prescription instead because I can get it alot cheaper than $12 for 7 pills at my pharmacy I work at. The receptionist went to ask the vet and came back saying a written prescription will cost $9! What? I've never heard of a prescription writing fee! But I accepted their pills anyways because I didnt want to be difficult since they already bottled it up and cut the pills for me. Plus, my receipt showed they waived the $39 office visit fee. I dont know why..maybe for first time visitors? I give this place thumbs down based on the prescription writing fee alone. It makes one skeptical about their business practices.

Let my preface my rant with this: Dr. Thorton and Dr. Galvan were perfectly nice to me and my dog, they just suck at being a vet. About a month and a half ago, my dog fell down the stairs. He seemed fine so I decided to keep a closer eye on him and if any symptoms developed I'd take him to the vet. A few days later, he started experiencing weakness in his back legs, so I called Banfield and made an appointment with Dr. Thornton. She examined him in the back office where I couldn't see. She came back in and said he doesn't appear to be in any pain but he may have a pinched nerve. She said they don't have any equipment at Banfield to get a good look to be sure that's what the problem is. She prescribed a steroid to reduce inflammation and a pain killer to give as needed with a max of one every eight hours. She also asked me to keep him in his kennel as much as possible so he will rest his back. I took my dog home and have him the steroid and after about a week and a half he started to seem a lot better. He still couldn't do a lot of the things he used to do but he could get around pretty well if I helped him up. Then, in the middle of the night about two weeks after we saw Dr. Thornton, my dog jumped off my bed, which is about two and a half feet high. That's a big leap for a little miniature schnauzer who is recovering from a back injury. I woke up immediately because I heard him cry out. He couldn't stand up in his own but nothing seemed broken so I gave him a pain pill and put him in his kennel. I continued to give him a pain pill twice a day for a while but he still seemed to be in a lot of pain some of the time. About one to two weeks after the jump off of the bed, I was very upset one morning because he seemed to be hurting so much. I called Banfield and made a drop off appointment with Dr. Thornton, thinking I may need to have him euthanized soon if she doesn't have a better solution. She called me in the afternoon and said I should just start giving him a pain pill once every eight hours so he never has to get to that point where he is so uncomfortable. I didn't like that idea but she told me it's way too soon to even consider euthanasia. She genuinely seemed offended that I asked about it. I started getting up 2 hours earlier and coming home from work during lunchtime and feeding him later in the evening so I could give him a pain pill once every eight hours. This helped him to stay comfortable but didn't solve the problem. About a week and a half later (this past Thursday), I had an appointment with Dr. Galvan because Dr. Thornton wasn't there. This was just a recheck to see how my dog is doing. He came into the exam room and looked at my dog and felt around on his back and listened to his heart and his breatheing and all the things you would expect a vet to do for a recheck and prescribed more pain pills. He told me to continue giving my dog the pain pills every eight hours for another month and we will see how he is improving. The following day, we had an appointment with another vet to get a second opinion. This was at Citi Animal Hospital, the new one on 518 right at the border of Friendswood and Pearland. This doctor do a more thorough exam than Dr. Galvan (I never even saw Dr. Thorn tons exam technique). This doctor felt my dog all over and laid him on his side to move his legs around in the joint and exam how they move. He had me walk my dog a few minutes so he could see if there was any limp. He asked me to explain what happened in my own words instead of relying on the techs wording. He asked me questions about my story as I went along. Questions such as: How can I tell that my dog is in pain? After all of that he said let me just do a prostate exam and then I'll tell you what I think is happening. He even took the time to ask me if I wanted him to do it in another room since it will be painful and smelly. I opted to stay in the room and get it over with. He did one side and said okay this anal gland is inflammed. He did the other side and said this one is inflamed also. He said that meant there's an infection and that can cause pain all over and make my dog not want to move. He prescribed an antibiotic and an antiinflammatory. That was Friday, this is Sunday, and my dog is fine! It's like none of this trauma ever even happened! My only question is, why didn't Banfield even tell me that he had an infection. The only answer I can think of is that they didn't take the time to check my dog properly. But Citi did. Thanks for reading!

I will not be back to this vet again. There services are way overpriced. Had I known the prices I would not have gone there. I came to get my two pets their yearly vaccinations and they recommended a fecal test and heart worm test which I was okay with. Then they recommended to do a swab for an ear infection. Which ended up be $33 each just for one swab. Then the vet said he looked at the records and said my pets were on heartguard before. So I ended up buying heart guard, come to find out they were actually on iverhart before which is cheaper. And they gave me the $48 heart guard for 25-50 lbs which was $10 more then the 0-25 lb one and my dog is less than 25 lbs. All together it was $428 for my shih-tzu and malti-poo. If you want to go somewhere where your dogs are treated with excellent care for half the price go to Animal Alliance in Galveston County. I would have gone there but they were closed today and farther from home, but now I know that the drive is worth it to go there.
