I can't comprehend the previous negative reviews. I think it's the same malcontent. We have been seeing Dr Ryback for approx 15 months with our 3 dogs and she is competent, compassionate and fair priced. She informs us of our pets lab reports as soon as she gets them back. The doctors prescribed care throughout our dogs chronic condition was beyond excellent Our experiences with her staff have been positive. All were genuine in their saddness when we lost our girl and celebrated with us when we adopted a homeless pup. I recommend this practice as their care is far superior to the past vets we have seen over the past 20 years. Don't hesitate to bring your animal to this practice

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience with the doctors at Teaneck Animal Clinic and Spa. Please read this before taking your animal here!!! The doctors are unprofessional and only care about covering themselves, not about the animals.
I took my 6 month old puppy here for lime disease vaccination. A few days later, she woke up with her face very swollen so I rushed her to the clinic. Dr. Izen, the associate vet on staff administered saw her when she came in. He could not figure out what was wrong, suggested she may have bitten by something. He took her in the back and administered 2 shots, a steroid along with Benadryl. While waiting, I heard my dog cry at the top of her lungs, a cry so loud that I didn’t even think it was my dog. When the tech brought her back to me she was shaking and moving back and forth. The tech told me the doctor would be right back to see me. He never came back in, instead another tech came back to talk to us. I asked what was wrong with her and he said the shot made her lethargic and that she would sleep most of the afternoon.
When I arrived back home, my dog could not even walk. She dragged both of her back legs and had no movement of them. That night we called the owner, Dr. Rybak on her cell. She said if she was not better by the next day at 1pm to bring her in since that’s when they opened. At 11am, she called the house and seemed extremely nervous. She then called again and my dog’s condition was still poor, she had no use of her left leg. At about 3pm, we brought her in to see the Dr. Rybak. She was suggesting that it could have been a reaction to the lime disease vaccination. We asked, well didn’t Dr. Izen see in her file that she had a vaccination? She had no response to that. Dr. Rybak then took xrays and nothing showed up, but still sent the xrays to a specialist. She then suggested that it was neurological and says she took full-responsibility as she was not there. She gave her some steroid pills and said to see how she was within 2 days and that she should be significantly better.
The next day there was no improvement. We called Dr. Rybak and she would not get on the phone with my mom who had stayed home with my dog, even though I had told 2 other people on staff that morning that it was fine to speak to my mom as I was at work. Finally she called my mom back and said to bring my dog in because she was very dehydrated, not eating or drinking. Then she said she would make the decision whether or not to send her to an animal hospital. She also said that she was going to call Pfizer to inquire about the vaccination being bad, but we did not have time to wait for that, as that was irrelevant at this point. She was suffering from when the steroid and Benadryl shots were administered. My mom and I decided that we wanted to bring her to Oradell Animal Hospital, as it is 5 minutes from my house and my dog needed immediate care. Dr. Rybak argued and said to bring her to Fairfield Animal Hospital, which would have been an hour commute in rush house traffic. She claimed that Oradell was not good and did not have a neurologist on staff, which is false, they actually have 2. She then says, “Well how do I know that your dog was not injured at home?” We told her, “When she entered your office, she walked perfectly, when she left, she could not walk at all.” Also, she had mentioned the day before that she thought it was probably a neurological problem and the x-rays indicated there was no bone or muscular problems, so how could she have been injured by falling at home?
W e took her to Oradell Animal Hospital and they were fantastic. First the vet saw her and immediately identified that she thought it was a neurological problem. She then saw the neurologist who also evaluated her. They gave her pain medication, advised us to stop the steroid pills as they thought she was in severe pain. They had said I should see an improvement within 7-10 days. The conclusion was that my dog was not restrained properly when the shot we being administered and the result was a pinched nerve.
It is now a few months later and thankfully my dog is a lot better, she is still dragging her left leg a little. I have still not heard from Dr. Rybak to this day. I believe this to be a form of malpractice. My dog was not properly taken care of when the shots were administered and Teaneck Animal Clinic let her leave the office in horrible condition. All Dr. Ryabk seemed to care about was covering herself. I am hoping that this will not be permanent damage to her leg. Both doctors were extremely unprofessional and could have seriously injured my 6 month old puppy. I wanted to share my story because I would hate to see this happen to another animal. My dog has been suffering due to their negligence. It has been an extremely difficult time for myself and my family.
