This is Marcus Ambrester. The above "anonymous" negative review was posted by a woman who came in for therapy who was struggling. It is true I had raised my rates without posting the higher rates on the website where she found me, and told her the same thing I used to tell every client in our first session: "If you don't want to continue working with me, then this first session is free. If you want to continue working with me and you schedule a second session, you have to pay for the first." She scheduled a second session and expressed excitement at, "finally finding a therapist I feel like can help me." I could have, too.

After leaving my office, she had to tell her wealthy husband that she needed $100/week for therapy and she could not afford it on what she made at her job. He refused to pay. She demanded a refund saying that, "I just don't think therapy really works for me."

She didn't want to confront her husband, who is very controlling about money. I get it. When I didn't refund her money, she posted this same review under 5 or 6 different names on 10-12 different websites.

Marcus is a professional who has gone above and beyond to be the greatest guide he can be for people who are hurting. Not only does he never postpone my appointment, he always gets me in as soon as possible. I love that I can always get an appointment right away, and I never have to worry about him rescheduling. I feel like he goes out of his way to accommodate my schedule.
I was confident that I was under the care of a professional. I always have the best experience every time I have an appointment here. No Complaints.
Marcus is always open to hearing my concerns and is patient and compassionate about helping me to see the real issue underneath what I am upset about.

I can not comment on Mr. Ambrester's ability as a counselor as I did not see him as a someone who could help me at this time. I am, however, disappointed at being deceived by his advertisement for a free initial consult and a $70 to $125 sliding scale. I was told that the minimum cost was $100 and that he expected payment on the first visit. I decided that this was too much for my budget and would seek help else where, a request for a refund for the first free consult has been ignored. How can you possibly put your trust in the hands of someone who begins the relationship with deceit.
