I was on vacation and had an emergency with my 2 yr. old doberman. She was literally almost dead when we rushed in with her in our arms. The girls that were on staff were amazing. They knew exactly what to do to try to stabilize her. Dr. Sheffield came in on call within minutes of us arriving and started working on figuring out what the problem was. Our dog ended up in surgery and survived because of this great staff and Dr.. Schatzi was at the clinic for four days as she recovered enough for us to drive her home.Dr. Sheffield kept me posted on her progress morning and night. She also allowed us to come in and set with with Schatzi so she would know we were there. I can never thank them enough for saving our dog. I only wish we lived closer. Dr. sheffield's THE BEST.

I have three dogs and I used to go to Northern Veterinary Associates because it's the only vet in Ishpeming. Every time I went there, I would wait for at least a half hour after my scheduled appointment time before I was brought into an exam room. I would even get there 15-20 minutes early hoping that I'd get in at my scheduled time, but it never happened. Then, I would wait some more for one of the doctors to come in.

The reception staff was never very friendly to me. There were times where I would have to wait several minutes to be acknowledged.

The last straw was when a young man came into the office with a really sick puppy and asked if they would help his dog but let him pay a week later because he had just started his new job. The receptionist went to ask one of the doctors about it, came back up and told the guy his dog probably has parvo and would die without IV treatments, but told the guy he had to give them a $50 deposit before they would do anything. He told them he had no money at the time, but he would the following week on pay day. They told him too bad, they wouldn't help without any money down. I wish I could have given him money, but I was a broke college student without any to spare.

I found an awesome new vet, I've seen them treat animals for owners who have no way to pay. They love all my dogs, and they are super friendly whenever I walk in there. I might have to drive an extra 20 miles to get there, but it's so much better than Northern Veterinary Associates.
