DO NOT Friedman at Selmi-Friedman. I highly warn those who have been directed to this man for any kind of treatment. He was recommended to my family as a custody evaluator. While i thought my child's safety would be ensured with him, it was the exact opposite. After months of back and forth visits and $7500 later, despite all the evidence i had, he came back to say i was a parental alienator. With files and files of evidence i presented him regarding my sons father consisting of drug and alcohol abuse, relapses, attempted suicides, medical commitment for suicide attempts, domestic violence convictions, and lastly and most shockingly a child molestation possibility that a judge and attorney generals office said was possible but did not have enough evidence to prove and ChildHelp saying that father should stay away from my son; he turns around to say everything that he had evidence of was a "blunder" on father's part and despite father's frequent relapses and admitting to sleeping naked with my son countless times, that because father was currently rehabilitated, our son who had had NO, absolutely NO contact with his father for 3 years (father didn't even attempt to in court or otherwise), Friedman insists an every other weekend visitation schedule. Judge Penny Willrich; an advocator against domestic violence based solely on Friedman's biased report, refused to acknowledge any kind of evidence I had and granted Friedman's recommendation. Currently, my son goes to his father every other weekend without any therapeutic intervention to slowly ease him back into his previously unhappy and traumatized environment; and comes back home unhappy and full of questions. Might i mention my son is currently 9 years old. He is told by his father to listen to rap songs with the words, "Suck my c***;" in them and his father tells him to come home and ask his step dad what it means. My son who is very close to his step father is not allowed to talk to him while visiting his father and is not allowed to talk about him or call him dad, which he has done for over 4 years now. My sons father talks so badly about my husband that he has gone to lengths of saying that he hates the military especially the marines (my husband is a marine vet) because my son asked to have a "marine corps haricut" when his father took him. My small petite 9 yr old who is still small enough to be in a booster seat is forced to sit in the front seat of his father' car and complains every time of a headache due to blaring and blasting music and at times has had to ask his father to slow down because he is scared. My son's father talks badly about me and my husband and continues to watch my son undress despite my sons continued pleads for his father to get out the room. There is so much more to my sons tragic story. I warn you because the result of this doctor's report and the judge accepting it because of his alleged reputation, there is absolutely nothing i can do to protect my son at all. Friedman even went to the lengths of having it ordered that we no longer use a therapist who encouraged and advised severing father's rights. Friedman is evil and now my child's life will continue to be at stake. I pray every day that when my son is gone to his father that he comes home alive, innocent and not traumatized by what his father has done in the past and had constant relapses with.

This counselor is disorganized, never prepared and always overwhelmed. She is abrasive and unprofessional. She yells at her clients and justifies her actions by saying "Sometimes thats what she needs to do". Yelling is not ok by anyone neither the counselor nor the client should yell, be rude or unprofessional. I am reporting her and hope others do as well.

Dr, Selmi as long as you follow her rules for the way the meeting is held has been fair and reasonable. She listens to both sides and takes into consideration the children and their needs. My complaints are that I have seen her 3 times and when I requested a report of the case, I was told that I would have to pay more and make another appointment. She interviewed two of my kids and could not provide me with a report until I paid more $$. I also find that her receptionist Heide thinks that she has some kind of authority and is totally rude and unprofessional. I have read on here where men have been kicked out of her office and I certainly have got close. But if you keep a cool head and be respectful she will listen to your points and take in consideration what is best for the kids.

I will continue to post my expirence with Dr Selmi so others can decide if the want to edure the lack of help and the complete waste of money we have spent.

Dr Selmi Appoint time 10:00 original start time 10:33.

Before we started our appointment I asked Dr Selmi if she was aware of the formal complaint I made with the court and if so, did she think she could provide assistance to us without bias. She stated she will do what ever the courts ask her to do. I asked her if she could or has ever referred someone to another counselor. She said she is just following what the court has said and would not provide us with another referral.

I mentioned that both my ex and I agreed that things are getting worse not better between us ever since we started seeing her and if things aren't getting better why not give us another referral.

I mentioned to Dr Selmi I recently got laid off and asked her about her billing and mentioned that she was 33 minutes late. She stated that she only bills by the hour. This was not the case when I went back to review my previous bill.

My ex and I submitted a agenda that was to be discussed during our time. To my suprise Dr Selmi Started the meeting with an agenda item that was discussed well over a year ago. Again, this item was not on the agenda that both my ex and I submitted to Dr Selmi for discussion. This item was resolved between my ex an I during a conference with the court. During the conversation both my ex and I stated that this had been resolved. Dr Selmi continued on and said that I had lied to her about a conversation I had. At that point I told her not to call me a liar and that was totally unprofessional. I told her exactly what had transpired and she told me not to interrupt or she would kick me out of the office. As soon as she said that, I told her that I wanted to record the session and she said No that if anyone would record the session, it would be her. I then asked for her to record it and she told me to stop interrupting her or I would get kicked out of the office again. I replied back you just called me a liar and it was at that moment she asked me to leave and that she would continue the session with just my ex.

Dealing with the divorce was hard but dealing with Dr Selmi is far more difficult.

My experience with Dr Selmi has been an absolute nightmare. She has not once been on time not to mention her complete lack of professionalism. We had been ordered by the court to start seeing Dr Selmi to help with co parenting and as a result things between my ex and I have progressively gotten worse since we started over 2 yrs ago and spent well over $7000. I would not recommend Dr Selmi to anyone. There are other providers out there that can provide a better service, better tips on how to co parent, more professional etc....
