I had to undergo an evaluation with Mr. Zalewa due to a custody battle. My ex made some serious allegations and this is who I had ordered to evaluate me.
First, he completely made me feel uncomfortable within the first five minutes. He twists things said to what he wants. When I would say, “no that’s not what I said” he ignored it and all of those ended up in his report. His report did not line up with what the computer tests he had me take results were. He testified on my ex’s behalf 9 months after this evaluation. His testimony had nothing to do with what his report said and went against two other DOCTORS evaluations of me (I’m so glad I got a second opinion)
If you have to be evaluated by him I highly recommend having a third party with you. He is not trustworthy. I personally cannot believe he is allowed to be in this profession. He has caused so much harm. He may need some evaluations himself. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS MAN!!!

I feared my 14 year old daughter had DID and was referred to Michael Zalewa due to his experience in the field. He does not take any insurance plans but I wanted to get my daughter the help she needed. First, Michael had her come in and take a psychological written test (which he realized was the wrong one just as she was about to finish so she had to start all over with the correct test) and charged me $200.00 to just grade the test. He agreed to do a single payer agreement with her insurance and did get the approval from the insurance and after one visit which I thought went well he would not return my calls, email, or texts. NOT GOOD PRACTICE, UNEXCEPTABLE TO LEAVE A CLIENT WONDERING WHAT'S GOING ON, SHAME ON HIM!!!!!!!!

Excellent therapist! He knows what he is talking about and is willing to work with patients that are ready to do the work. If you are not willing to make the changes that need to be made to make your life better, he will call you out on it. With me, he took a tough, no nonsence approach, which was exactly what I needed. Because of Michael, I can honestly say that I like who I have become.

He accepted me on the sliding scale, but I often felt like he didn't take me seriously because of it. We never started on time and we always ended early. I was supposed to get 45minutes, but I would be lucky if I got 30; I usually got 20-25.

He may be knowledgable in his field, but his implimentation of his knowledge is subpar. At the beginning, when I first began seeing him, he stated that I was in control of where we went during our sessions, but it didn't take long for him to renig on that statement and rob me of all control. He often asked me questions and then refused to believe my answers; made claims that he knew things vastly outside of his profession (controversial claims that contradicted facts and opinions brought forth by other professionals in the actual field being discussed); attempted to create more paranoia between my other healthcare providers and myself instead of trying to dissipate any pre-existing apprehension; and belittled me for using intellecutal vocabulary that most people choose not to use.

He never took notes during any of the sessions. He frequently would say one thing (or suggest a course of action) at one appointment and then adamently deny ever having said it at the very next appointment. If he was ever called out on this, he would attempt to verbally tap dance around it, quickly change the subject, accuse me of lying, or suggest that I was unjustly projecting built up hostility upon him.

There were a couple of sessions where we barely even talked about things going on in my life; he rattled on about things going on in his life. (Which brings me to another important item..)

He is very unprofessional when it comes to other people's situations and general privacy. He often talked about other clients (not by name, but in inappropriate detail), court cases that he was currently involved in, and past clients.

In the end, he caused a great deal more damage than an healing that may have occurred. I would recommend that you save your money and look elsewhere.

I was involved in a custody battle in which I was forced by the St. Johns County court to see this man. The mother of my child was physically abusive to me (and had gone to jail for it..so it was proven) and after I left her she tried to ruin my life and actually went as far as to insinuate that I had sexually molested my own son. She made up lies and did everything possible to take my son from me. I had a meeting with this wannabe doctor in which he asked me in depth questions about my sexual history with my ex (very uncomfortable) and then asked me if I knew of the "accusations". After he clued me in to what the hell he was talking about I was rather irate and in disbelief that anyone would go that far to try to ruin someone's life and all he would say is that it seems I have "anger issues!!" Really? I just got falsely accused of the most horrible thing in the world and I have anger issues because I am pissed off? I answered every single question about my life with complete honesty. Questions ranging from my sexual history to drug and alcohol use and more. I answered every one with complete honesty because I trusted that Mr. Zalewa was there to help me. Boy was I wrong. Obviously he believed every lie that my ex had told him (In her write up she obviously told him a bunch of lies) and in his write up about me he totally made me out to be a bad person. I told him 100% truth because I had nothing to hide...she told him lies because she knows she was wrong. He took her side completely. My question is how can this man be a distinguished therapist if he can't see through a scorned woman's lies? He spoke to me and treated me like I was a piece of $#!t from the very first moment I met him. This man is a hack..he told me straight up that he plays a lot of golf and blah blah about how cool he was so I think maybe he needs to have a psychological examination. He definitely needs a change of profession because he is not in it to help anyone. I would never wish this man's "help" on anyone. The way he treated me was completely unprofessional and I would not recommend this man to anyone. I stood up to his horrible treatment of me and I would suggest anyone else who has been treated this way by him do the same.
