Personally knew a patient who was treated by this psychiatrist for years. All he cared about was the money. He remarked, "I am the only thing keeping her out of a mental hospital," however, that would have probably been better for this particular patient as her condition worsened after being treated by Dr. Botwin. He had her on so many antidepressants she would walk around like a zombie and was worse than ever after being treated by him. I would avoid him at all costs. He is lousy.

My father was a regular patient of Dr. AJ Botwin for many years as he suffered from a severe case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. His symptoms worsened with time, and Dr. Botwin's response was to increase the dosage of his many prescription medications. This was not the correct approach, and Dr. Botwin should have incorporated weekly counseling sessions to check the progress of my father's mental status. With the swift move of his pen, Botwin would write off on any prescription drug my father requested. It was quite evident that his condition continued to worsen, and as a mental health physician, it was Botwin's responsibility to refer him to a doctor that had ample experience with PTSD. My father tragically committed suicide (purposely overdosing on the exact medication prescribed by Dr. Botwin). Botwin is an utter failure. He failed me, my family and my poor father.
