I came to this hospital because I had renal failure..my doctors were great, however the nursing staff left much to be desired. As sick as I was I felt like I had to "make nice" in order to get the med's and the care I needed. I had one nurse or two that treated me Ok. One nurse yelled at my husband who simply asked her a question because all of a sudden after being there for over a week my meds changed and he was trying to understand why..she yelled at him and insisted he look at the computer to prove that she wasn't lying, what's that about?? Then when she did bring my meds she yelled at me..told me there were sicker people in the hospital, which I smiled and said of course there are and I apologized to her. (that nurse does not have any business being in any healthcare facility) When I asked for my meds one morning way before shift change because I knew when that occurred, there is no chance in heck to get help during the couple of hours shift change takes place, they said they would be there shortly..I called again about an hour or two later, same response. After about 4 or 5 hours I was crying because I was in so much pain, some nurse heard me, came in and rudely asked me why I was crying and when I told her, she stomped out and later someone finally came in and brought me my meds very rudely.
The nicest folks there were the gals that cleaned the rooms (which were nothing to write home about). I have worked as a nurse so I do understand how busy and stressful the job is, and I always appreciated patients in spite of being very ill, tried to be polite and non demanding. My husband was with me most of the time so I needed no help to shower or use the bathroom, etc. There was no excuse to be treated the way I was treated. I could go on and on about many incidences that occurred while staying there, but I hope you get the idea, my advice is if you have to stay there for any length of time have a good friend or family member stay with you as much as possible. Thank goodness I understood many things, I don't even want to go through the nightmare of my IV situation, etc, what a hot mess there!
The list goes on and on, I know there is a problem of a heavy work load and understaffed, but for heaven's sake it is not the patients fault, they don't have a choice about being ill and in the hospital. And when as a very sick person you go out of your way to make nice and be polite to the nursing staff and to be treated so inhumanly, I just can't imagine what happens to patients that are cranky and difficult, God forbid!

I will never visit this hospital again. The nursing staff (the majority not all) are uncaring, unfriendly and unprofessional. They are so sell absorbed with gossip and themselves that patient care seems to be the last thing on their minds. I went in complaining of rapid heart rate and chest pain, I was told to have a seat in the waiting room. When I finally got called back my blood pressure was so high I nearly blacked out. What did they do with me, put me in a wheel chair in the hallway while they cleaned a room. The only nurse that cared was the one that checked me in. One nurse was too busy checking her vitals on a blood pressure machine and complaining about wanting to go home to do anything. This place is a joke, the care they give is very lacking/substandard and the staff needs a major overhaul. I will not set foot in this hospital again and I advice all others to avoid it as well.
